Yep I got your point rob that's why I said general rule. Besides you agree when you used the word "development" that it means bettering the previous performance. And that will be the trend for any for any sport as long as it is being watched, loved and supported by fans, a new sportsman will train to better the previous one, and if he is naturally gifted, it will be much easier for him/her to achieve that. :good

People like you really p**s me off

*******s like you should be banned from writing in ESB

His best wins have come from mayweathers leftovers

De La Hoya - weight drained
    Hatton - Battered by Mayweather
    Clottey - a B class fighter
    Margarito - Dismantled by Mosley
    Mosley - Battered by Floyd

He fights at catchweights and does everything possible to get every possible advantage

Sugar Ray Robinson - 200 fights, 173 wins 108 by knockout

MAYWEATHER WOULD BEAT THE C**P OUT OF PACQUIAO

Mayweather is the best of our generation, that is a fact

You're an idiot of you think Pacquiao is the G.O.A.T

He is a boxing legend, he will be in the hall of fame, he could sneak into the top 15 fighters of all time, but #1?

    Ridiculous

  3. Has he ever faced an undefeated primed Hatton, schooled a ledendary Gatti or a hungry lion like Carlos Baldomir in his resume? Add a Zab Judah if you want.

Spadafora faced patsies. Come on :patsch

So it's the quality of opposition a boxer beats that matters. Well in that case you have answered your own initial question. Pac is greater than Mayweather because he has beaten a greater level of opposition.

Well done. You are learning. Here, have a gold star.

U serious bro? Baldomir? A way past it Gatti? Judah? Your either joking or just stupid. None of those guys would last 3 rounds with Pacquiao. Hatton , one of floyds best wins, couldn't last two rounds.

I would have responded to your quote to the TS seriously but why use a chicken Floyd as a measuring stick? :rofl

That turned me off bigtime man and stopped me on my tracks :patsch

With the exception that he is a 6 time world champion at 5 different weight classes and won the WBC belt in every class

Chicken Floyd is a small example of why Pac is not the G.O.A.T. 6 time world champion, 5 different weight classes. Won the WBC belt in every class, a master technician of defence, (never been put down), the master of hitting and hot being hit. Dismantled Corrales when he was undefeated, beat a prime Castillo, fought Oscar at 154....

Everything I said before is legit and substancial too

Oh my it hurts sooooo much I just cry myself to sleep about it every night

By the Lazcano had Ricky out on his feet, Pacquiao enjoys feeding off Mayweathers left overs and Ricky is one of a number of examples of this

Credit where credit is due, Pacquiao ia an incredible fighter, but G.O.A.T?

    Stop smoking weed

Good post. It's a bold statement, and one I wouldn't agree with but the guy who made the long post of all ATG achievements went one step further than anyone else I've ever seen on these boards by quantifying & comparing achievements. Ovbiously when deducting an individual to be the G.O.A.T, one must account for both positivist and phenomenological aspects of achievement, the latter however being incredibly subjective but the most widely & exclusively used analagy within ATG/GOAT debates.

Thats all I care to say on that.

On a sidenote however, "Marshmallows =)", you are perhaps the biggest most biased yet contradictory supporter of Floyd there is. In one post you mention how Floyd's 0 trumps all of Manny's achievements, regardless of resume comparison, yet in your next post you mention how Floyds 40-0 is better than Calzaghe's 46-0 because of the exact same reason you plain disregarded when comparing Floyd with Manny?!?! Use of your first logic would mean pre-Chagaev, Valuev's record which was 44-0 would mean he's better than Floyd...

Get a grip... Yes it's fine to be a fan of Floyd and yes it's fine to express your favortism for him, but don't try coming across as an objective poster when your mentality starts and ends with "Floyd."

Pac needs to skill wlad to have a chance at being considered the goat.
He is one of this era's most talented fighters and the fighter of the decade.
Thats pretty great as well, no need to rank him above guys like ali or ray robinson.

The point about the bench press is moot really. Firstly the original record breaker will have been much smaller, secodly the guy who now has record is a steroid user and lastly did you actually see how fat the guy who set the record was? I don't even class that as a bench - he was literally so fat he only had to bring the bar down about 10 inches, not even half way. The rules state you have to bring it down to your chest, that's why you always get stong guys who are also really fat doing it.
As for the other points you made they are true in some ways but take into account that most sports are very different now. Could you imagine modern footballers who hit the floor like they've been shot all the time being as succesful against big strong defenders who are allowed to use 'dangerous' tackles on mudy un even pitches? Could you imagine these modern boxers fighting once a fort night in bouts that can go 15?
One stud on the boot of the first four minute mile weighs the same as an entire boot of current athletes.
