There have been a lot of bias discussion and rant but let's try and come up with an objective ****ysis here. Claiming that Floyd will win because he's undefeated, because he's simply the best is poor at best. So let's try and look at this from an objective standpoint. 1. Who's had the best career. The obvious choice is Floyd but does this really give us an indication of who will win? Just because Floyd is undefeated doesn't mean he has the edge. Styles make fights and Pacquiao has lost 4 times (excluding robbery) due to his more risky approach to fighting. Whilst Floyd has been more technical and cautious, Manny has been more offensive minded and has taken more risks. Mannys' highs have been higher than Floyd's (his annihilations of Hatton, Cotto, DLH compared to how Floyd beat them) but his lows have been lower (KO to JMM and other losess). He has been more of a roller coaster but doesn't mean he has had less skill, he's just taken more risks. No clear advantage for anyone here 2. Styles. A fighter cannot outbox Floyd or beat him at his own game, he has to take the fight to Floyd and he needs to be quick. Judah and Mosely connected big shots on Floyd, showing speed troubles him. Manny has speed. The other fighters who have had success against Floyd are very aggressive and relentless - Castillo and Maidana. Manny is very aggressive and never lets up. Manny is also a southpaw, which is an advantage given southpaws face right handers all the time yet right handers don't face southpaws all the time. No defensive fighter has ever beaten Pacquiao, name me one. Advantage to Pacquiao here 3. Who has slowed down more. If we look at their last 2 fights, Pacquiao faced the stiffest competition and looked better. He looked very good vs Bradley (a top p4p fighter); in fact JMM said that was the best Manny. He looked very good vs Algieri too, totally dominated him and would've KO'd him had Algieri not run so much all fight. Meanwhile, Floyd DID NOT look great vs Maidana, his performances against Maidana were considerably less impressive than his past performances. Some try to make Maidana out to be this elite fighter but let's be honest, Maidana lost to Devon, who Bradley beat rather easily. A lot has been said about Maidana 'the monster' but let;s be honest, would anyone think Maidana is a clear favourire against Algieri or Rios? i don't think so. Pacquiao annihilated Rios and i see Rios vs Maidana as a blood bath. Let's not make Maidana out to be some elite fighter now, Floyd has lost a step or two. Advantage Pacquiao I don't consider the above biased, it's a pretty objective ****ysis. I know some will bring the JMM loss but again, Manny actually was looking good in that fight and JMM took risks, by allowing himself to get hit often by Manny. He also has a lot more KO power than Floyd. Even though Floyd >> JMM he definitely will not and cannot fight the way JMM fights against Pacquiao. Floyd WILL NOT exchange punches and will not KO Pacquiao, he is too cautious and lacks the power. Anything can happen but i would be shocked if Floyd fights Manny the way JMM does and KO's him, it would be very surprising and i would be highly impressed.
See the thing is, and this bothers me, you've put up some decent posts that had me thinking pac has a chance, and I want him to win, Abuffy has been the strongest voice of reason, breaking it down why Pac may have a stylistic advantage, She's good... but what bothers me as of right now, is that both Shane, and Bernard, see something that pac is going to have a hard time, finding, hitting floyd. I don't think it's just reach, and I know it's not lateral movement, because Marquez with his lower center of gravity has better lateral movement intra fighting than floyd. Plus floyds legs, in the last 2 fights don't appear to be what they were. Hard to say, but I'm wondering what exactly that we can be explained tangibly, that shane experienced, and bernard sees, that give them the idea that Pac won't be able to hit floyd.
the poll does not agree with you Duckweather is also a 3-1 fav his father and uncle predict a knockout.........trainers and ex fighters Floyd so I guess it will be a easy fight then?:hey
They favor the traditional boxing experience and knowledge, knowing Floyd has the "superior" style. But it doesn't always play out that way. There's a reason no one fights like Pac. Experts always shun "recklessness" and illogical moves as the key factors to winning a fight, but that is the situation we have here. Traditional trainers will favor Floyd, for it is easy to see how he dissects fighters intelligently (just like Hopkins). I'm not even going to mention any racial bias or seeing themselves more in Floyd than Pac. Mosley knows he had a hard time hitting Floyd, but I don't think the Southpaw angle will experience quite the same insurmountable task in landing.
Only one reason : Floyd is mentally shot. he's having nightmares of Pacquiao ever since. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0APTbyMfNI
Pac has quick little feet that just keep on moving, I don't believe he has any problem keeping up with Floyd if Floyd wants to run all night.
and another advantage is Floyd hasn't faced an elite fighter who is prime, or atleast still active, since Castillo/Corrales. He's faced a ton of b-c rated fighters along with a couple washed up A ones. Pac has been in wars, he is the tougher fighter hands down. For Floyd to win, I think he has to give us something we've never seen before, fight on another level and be aggressive. If he doesn't step up, I think Pac's overall aggression will win over. Floyd may land at a better connect % and possibly more punches overall, but Pac will touch Floyd more and I think land the more effective punches. And I do think Pac wants this more than floyd. The stars are aligning for Pac and I think he is capable of giving us his best performance ever and winning.
