A. They are the clear 3 and 4 of the division. B. Both had at least semi controversial losses to the # 1 and 2 of the division. C. Neither are getting immediate, or even remotely close, rematches with champs, cause, you know, danger. D. A fight with each other will be about 50/50 in both purse and chances, and will EASILY be the most lucrative fight either one will get in the next 2 years. Shwotime or HBO will JUMP at the opportunity to show it. E. The winner of the fight against each other will be, excepting Tyson Fury possibility, the most lucrative fight for the AJ Wilder winner. F. The loser will be in about as good a shape as he would have been had he not taken the fight. He can still wait, and be avoided, for a mandatory spot in one of the orgs, hence get A. a good fight for an ambitious fighter that will give a good purse for a mandatory shot or B. make a mandatory fight for a title by being avoided. Last analysis? It makes WAY more sense to fight each other than just taking the traditional, boring, modern, cowardly route of not taking a dangerous fight and hoping you can coward your way into a mandatory by avoiding dangerous challengers.
Povetkin would beat Ortiz and Parker, no doubt about it. Wilder has been running from Povetkin for years, even after VADA cleared Povetkin, admitted their mistake, Haymon's WBC would still not allow Povetkin to get Wilder into a ring. Povetkin deserves a title shot ASAP!
Povetkin failed the PED test so he blew his chance. I don't know how Wilder is running from him when he agreed to fight him. Povetkin with or without PED is still a joke. Beating David Price means what? Ortiz was never a good pro but in shape he would still beat Alexander and so would Parker.
I think the OP is right Parker needs this sort of fight coming off this loss He is still young and has a good career to contuie with I hope he still makes some good money and brings the sport some good fights
Povetkin would disagree about them being the clear number 3 and 4. He might be passed his best but he'd still be up there with them, in fact I think Povetkin probably beats them both. As for Parker/Ortiz would be a good fight. Ortiz is better technically, but he's an old man, Parker isn't that easy to hit and has a cracking chin too so Ortiz might get out worked.
He kept Joshua off him for most off the night and Joshua is far more aggressive than Ortiz who likes to sit back and counter. Ortiz is old and slow I can see the younger faster Parker making Ortiz look as old as he probably really is lol.
Joshua fought at a measured pace because that was his game plan plus he had Parker constantly backing up, not the there way around. Orriz may be slower but his timing and the way he sets his punches is on another level compared to Parker.
