Why Pavilk vs. Hopkins?

    They said Abraham has a mandatory with Marquez I think a commission for boxing should be in order in this sport it generates to much money not to have one and networks and the presidents over the sanctioning needs to be held accountable. Hopkins at 43 couldn't get a win against a 36 year old fighter in Calzaghe how can he beat a 26 year old fighter in Pavilk he couldn't beat a young Taylor. HBO should be ashame coming off of a great fight between Cotto and Margarito and now this which I thought Hopkins beat Taylor and Calzaghe he aint getting a decision against Pavilk so why make the fight. What went wrong with the boxing industry well we couldn't get Pavilk vs. Abraham in the fall please give some reasons why this fight isn't happening now. Marquez could have fought WBA champ Sturm and then go from there please someone in here give some logical explanation.

    Bernard is going to beat Pavlik,take him to school,trust me.Pavlik cant fight above 160 or 65,this one is at 70.

    I know,he was a fat ******* in the Taylor rematch wasnt he?
    I guess his short little body frame isnt designed for those extra few pounds.

    So Pavilk vs. Abraham is less important than Abraham vs. Marquez give me a break. Pavilk could have fought Wright or Kessler this is sad for boxing.

    It was Pavlik's best option

    Calzaghe is fighting Roy Jones, Kessler is fighting Haussler, Abraham is fighting Marquez. Winky outpriced himself, Pavlik vs. Paul Williams was a bit bizarre (but they almost made it) and the only other options available left were Anthony Mundine (interesting fight but I didn't hear about any negotiations between the two sides) and mismatches like Rubio or Duddy.

    In Hopkins, Pavlik gets his second HBO PPV event, a lot of hard cash and the chance to beat a legitimate P4P-er and ring legend. And because it's at 170 and his MW titles will be safe, it's a win-win situation for him...



    By the way, it's the only fight vs. P4P-ers in the 2nd half of the year...

    Winkey did not price himself out. He offered Pavilik the bigger end of the pusre. Bob Arum does not want pavilik to fight Winkey because Winkey would not give Pavilik a shot a few years back. Follow the sport please!:patsch

    wright isn't active, prices himself out of fights and just isn't a PPV fighter, kessler is still relatively unknown in the states, so pavlik - hopkins makes sense as a money spinner for 2 fighters who aren't afraid to take big fights and have earned it.

    Kessler or Calzaghe would have been the best fight, but as both are otherwise engaged this is a good option for KP.

    And Hopkins for that matter

    hopkins is a much bigger player than either calzaghe or kessler which is why he got the fight.

    kessler and, especially calzaghe, have been "otherwsie engaged" taking less dangerous fights for too long now.

    that's why they don't have a pavlik fight.

    In the same post you said Hopkins couldnt beat Calzaghe or Taylor which is why you cant see him beating Pavlik yet in the very next sentence you say you believe he won those fights. Why not make the fight ? Abraham is going after his mandatory so after him theres no challenge at Middleweight. Bernard Hopkins in top 5 in the World p4p he barley lost to Calzaghe which is who Pavlik wanted so if he cant get Calzaghe go fight the next best thing.
