This is a qute from another post:

People don't understand his mentality. To him, the purpose of a man in life is to provide for his family, to earn money, to be prosperous. That's what he's doing and has been doing so it really irks him when people call him out on the fact that he's not taking dangerous fights when, in his mind, he's doing exactly what a man should be doing, making as much money as he can, being as succesful as he can. That's why often in interviews, when people ask him why he didn't fight xy, he quotes how much money he's made. What he's saying is "I made xy, see, I don't have to fight that guy", because what a man's supposed to do is be successful (and that means being as powerful as he can be which is to say as rich as he can be) and he's telling us that he is so he doesn't understand why the harping on opponent xy.

And not only that, but, we've established he feels his purpose is to make money, and he's been able to become such a draw because his undefeated record gives him an allure, and if he loses that 0, he loses millions of potential dollars in subsequent fights because he won't be as big a draw any more.

Try to put yourself in PBF's shoes and thing the way he thinks and you'll see how he frustrating his situation is: imagine the inverse of PBF's situation. Imagine a warrior like Pac or whoever who takes on all the best, but imagine he lived in a world where everybody had PBF's mindframe. Brian Kenny would say you made only xy, why are you fighting all these tough guys for peanuts???? And Pac would say I'm fighting the best, I'm proving I'm the toughest out there etc etc., and Brian Kenny would say (imagine that DLH was smaller than Pac) but why do you care for that, why aren't you fighting DLH? People would think he's a great fighter but that he is also, truly, mentally ill. He'd be seen as a freak.

That scenario is much better, because people would recognize him as the best, but you can see how this is frustrating. PBF, in his mind, is doing everything right, he's being extremely successful and people are not complimenting his success but rather criticizing him for not taking fights that, in his mind, don't make sense because they don't pay and risk taking his 0. When he says I'm making 40 mil Pac is making 6, he expects to be complimented for being the more successful man.

I think, possibly, this mentality could have developed from and underpriviliged background, but in PBF's case he'd get it second hand, through his father's parenting, because FMJ sr was a successful fighter so I'd assume they were reasonably well off, though I wouldn't be suprised to find sr blew his money on blow and whores.

I think he's making a case as to why he should get the lions share between him and Pac.

Smart business moves, its all it is.

    This is not top rank.

Mayweather getting 40 million and SSM getting 12 million guaranteed.

Golden Boy will have to haul ass to break even.

I'm not going off of just that one quote (and I don't think that was said in that context, it was more of a bragging thing, IIRC), as we all know, he always brags about how much dough he's making-

If GBP is dumb enough to guarantee Mayweather 40 million, they might as well start planning on how to make all that money back now.

Because people like you get their panties in a twist over it, start hating on him more and rush out to order his next PPV hoping to see him get beat.

Mayweather is a moron, and he will be broke, but hes a strange bird in that unlike the old timers he doesnt get motivated by titles or legacy, but only by paydays. Most fighters who fight for money dont have the same mindset as him.
