In the United States, you can find pretty much a hero in any sport. There's an American in each sport and he's at the very least making waves. Pacquaio is the first Pinoy in god knows how long to really make a stamp in the boxing world. Of course they worship him, he opened the door for a large majority of them to become fans of the sport.

He's an idol because at the time they didn't have anybody else in boxing to follow.

It's like saying Panamanians worship Roberto Duran. No ****. He was THAT guy for them.

 

no set of fans are so much concern about what their boy is/was making other than the joyboys. pac fans are gulity as well but not as direct as their joyboy counterparts who thinks that whenever their floyd-toy earns more, they would have a share in it.

If I'm getting a share for every penny my favorite fighter makes, then by all means, fight the safest, highest paying opponent available. But since i'm the one paying to see him fight, and being one of the fans putting money in his pocket, then i would careless what he makes as long as he fights whom i want him to fight. What i dont understand is why some fans keep idolizing a certain fighter when he openly says its all about the money.

Boxing is a business, as why fighters have responsibilities to please the fans, and its going to take a dive if all the fighters starts thinking like a thief instead of a warrior.

I can give a flying **** about how much the man makes in his fights. That's all his business and it's not like I see any of it. I watch boxing for entertainment and I want to see good intriguing fights. Floyd finally has taking one that fits that description and that's all that I care about.

I don't care what color you are, bragging about how much money you have or make is just that: bragging. It isn't justified if someone else does it and no matter who does it, it's still viewed as being pompous and done for the sake of seeking attention and admiration and envy. If you truly are satisfied by what you have and/or what you do then you don't need to brag and seek the approval of others.
