Yea with no doubt the move in weight was the best for him, but at that ime he was critizised because the 140 lbs was the best weight in the sport. But the everyone move to, except for Hatton that move down again after a close call.

Only fighter I ever picked over him was Shane, that was understandable and the fight was close enough. Whoever picked Judah over him specially after that Baldomir fight must have been on something...

I think Cotto has a lot of skill. He has visibly improved through his career, and his power is amazing...he literally breaks people apart in there. He was hurt against Corley, which made me wonder, but I don't really look at the Torres fight as far as his chin goes, I was at that fight live and WOW, Torres looked like a miniature Tito Trinidad...those shots were as hard as I've seen a small guy throw. I don't know how Cotto survived that many flush shots, so continuously.

And beating Mosley made me a believer, although I had that fight a draw.

Cotto sometimes gets treated a lot like Pavlik. He keeps getting better with every fight, but many boxing fans refuse to recognize the improvements. I became a Cotto fan with the Malinaggi fight; GREAT FIGHT. Against Mosely I refused to pick a winner. I wanted BOTH guys to win:bbb

Cotto showed skills in the Mosely fight I had no idea he posessed.

I picked him to lose against mosley and thought the judah fight could be back and forth ala torres.. he shut me up both times. Cotto is the man. i think its because hes not a force of nature type fighter? like mosley has that speed, judah has that speed and power, mayweather has that speed, ect, ect... cotto doesnt really have that kind of awe inspiring physical ability, and in the past has been vulnerable to power and quickness...

but cotto makes up for all of that with something that imo is just as special as all that physical talent, and that is whats in his spirit. he often out toughens the other guy.... and that, to go along with his power, skill set, and overalll ability, allows him to defeat more physically gifted fighters like judah.

i will do my best to never sell cotto short again

Selective matchmaking since the Torres fight. He has fought decent fighters, but none with real power. The hardest puncher since then was Mosley. Quintana,Judah,Bracco,Malignaggi, Modest punchers at best. Which was a shrewed move by Cotto's managers. His confidence is now high again. he attacks without hesitation. He can be hit, but shakes it off with little difficulty. Mosley hit him and Cotto had no trouble with the punches affecting him. But big bangers are out there like Margarito, Berto, Mayorga. If he can absorb these fighters blows with little difficulty he will then be the top level fighter at the Welter. Division & will be all Mayweather can handle & maybe more.

I honestly think that 147 hs suited him a hell of allot better than at 140 ..If you notice in his fights at 140 he was stunned allot more ..At 147 he takes a better punch ..I think conditioning has to be something that must be mnetioned with Cotto especially since in the past he had such a problem with weight ..

To be fair, I don't think you're going to find many fighters at WW anytime soon who can combination punch, and with such precision as Ricardo Torres. He is a hell of an offensive fighter.
