Why people are praising Yarde is a mystery.

Anyone remembers forum posts about Yarde a few years ago, hyping him up and announcing the second coming of Jesus Christ, lol ?

Like "Don't sleep on him because he has no amateur experience" ?

Yarde and his team declined 1 million step aside money by Kovalev to fight Canela.

I wonder what was his purse for this Kovalev fight ?

Froch was a star type second he was promoted properly. The fact he wasn't can be laid squarely at the door of Fat Mick who coincidentally also failed to get the public to like Tyson Fury either.

    Noticing a pattern here?

Agree with this. It's about expectations. Plenty were saying he wouldn't last till halfway. He nearly beat him in the eighth and almost went the distance.

C'mon, this is total cherry picking rubbish. He didn't just get KO'd by a jab. He took a lot of big shots throughout the whole fight from a noted P4P freakishly powerful puncher. Many top level fighters would have been stopped earlier by some of those shots. Yarde sucked it up and kept coming. If anything Yarde showed a tough durable chin.
The jab/punch that ended it was because by that time he had been eventually broken down, busted up and exhausted.
Plus, the guy is relatively inexperienced and fought one of the most fearsome fighters and punchers in the sport, someone who not long ago was rated as a P4P shortlister.
And despite all this, he nearlyKO's the Krusher.
So let's give Yarde some dues. He stepped up, he fought fire with fire, nearly got the KO win but eventually was overwhelmed. Yes, he has scope to get better and stamina to address.

I finally watched the fight and I really don't get the praise. Kovalev (a post prime one) was in control of pretty much the entire fight. Round 8 was really the anomaly in the fight. He basically got journeyman credit (he hung tough against the champ). Hanging tough and then getting starched for a 10 count does not make one a potentially elite fighter. Beterbiev, Gvodzyk, most certainly Bivol would all school him or take off his head off respectively.

I'm not that patriotic, but was embarrassed he was representing UK after that ring walk.. what an absolute plonker. Arrogant af. Was great to see him humbled (and I won a bit of cash from the result too).

What made me laugh was the post match interview, where Yarde was going on about 'nothing can stop us'... err well kov just did stop you, you muppet.

"He has no power" - Has 17 KO's from 18 wins. Nearly KO's Kovalev.
"People are talking about how he has a bright future ahead of him..." - Had been impressive (albeit untested) and KO's 17 of 18 opponents (prior to losing to Kovalev). So it's perfectly reasonable to say he has a bright future. How he now comes back will be interesting.

Yarde needs to work on his attitude. From the post fight interview it seems he didn't learn anything from this loss. Class acts praise their opponent win or lose. Yarde was a d-bag and kept talking about himself, while Kovalev gave him props regardles.

Tell me, what are the benefits of being a ''class act'' in boxing?
