Its simply because he is mouthy and BRITISH, if he was mouthy and American nobody would care because they're have been plenty of fighters like that down the years, some of our fellow countrymen dislike Haye for the same reason they dislike Hamed, arrogance. He should be arrogant though, he is already in the top 5 heavyweights in the world despite only fighting that bum Bonin at HW, the Hayemaker is ready to smash Wlads china, if he connects Wlads reign will be over and his fans know it, nobody can take the Hayemaker. So they try and always point back to that Thompson loss and say how he was "knocked out" even though he never went down and got counted out. I think its shameful hating the soon to be UNDISPUTED Heavyweight Champion of the World.:hey
It's going to be very interesting to see how this Haye business pans out. I don't know enough about him to put down a firm judgement. I like what he brings to boxing though, i think sometimes we underrate current fighters because they are so damn uncharismatic, and poorly known by the general public around the world.
People complain that the heavyweights are boring and there is no one with the kind of personality that will interest the general public. Then as soon as a charismatic fighter like Haye turns up and calls out other heavyweights and generates interest in the HW division he is hated for being arrogant and mouthy.
Not to mention he is much more exciting to watch than Wlad, Haye throws bombs with intentions to take people out from the first round.
I hate it when people bring up the Carl Thompson fight, this was a proven cruiserweight and Haye took him on when he was still very young and hadn't matured enough as a pro, people point to that fight and say he has a glass jaw, but as you said he never got counted out, he never even went down and he took some big shots aswell, it was purely to do with exhaustion.
I like David Haye...he's alright in my book and I'm American. He's young, talented and marketable. But since he hasn't had much exposure in the US it's hard for him to become popular...at least in the states. Whatever reason he's not making any big waves in his homeland. America may actually be more excepting of his talents and marketablility. But he'll have to impress!! in order for his dreams to become real. He's been mouthing off talking about making it in America and gaining international fame....so the ball is in his court. If he's the truth then that will come to light when he's at center stage under the big lights in a meaningful fight. I think he has a chance...I'm just worried about his size and chin at HW...but he has the pop and speed. I havent seen enough to make a final call but I think he can beat a lot of HW with his speed and power...IF he brought that up with him from Crusier weight.
hell he's my 3rd favorite fighter... and i'm american, theres nothing wrong with arrogance as fighter, if you dont think you're the best, noone else will.....all long as you have skills that reflect that you're good in my book
This statement is a bit over board....he could KO Klit, he has the speed and power (i Think) But does he have the ablility to get in side of a very good, powerful and lenghthy jab and power right hand of klit with out eating any leather.:think It will be tough for David to beat Klit...but I like his confidence....it may be a bit pre-mature given only one fight at HW and his first test couldn't hold Klit's Jock strap.
Americans love Haye but I notice its tough for a person of Color who is flamboyant Cocky and colorful to really be loved over there. Lennox Lewis isnt all that loved. Kahn and the Prince etc....now I dont want to get into the ones who receive unflailing love and devotion as you know the usual suspects. I dont claim to know **** but from afar its the impression I get I see the outpouring of love some of their fighters get and I see as skilled or better fighters from there get ripped on these very forums. Who else sees this?
