Joe is the frame for supermiddle. He fits perfect there. Who should he have fought over the last ten years at supermiddle?

Who are all these 'euro cans' that 'litter' Calzaghe's record. He's only actually fought eight Europeans in the past 11 years (including Ashira as European here).

And, as that includes Kessler, Reid, Woodhall, Eubank I take it you're not labelling all of the eight as 'cans'?

The 'protected' meme is well worn out, but no-one can ever point to these 'great fighters' who were there for Calzaghe to fight. The only real examples are Hopkins, who Calzaghe wanted to fight, the fight was made and then Hopkins decided Joe was too black for him and killed it and Roy Jones, who Calzaghe talked off a lot as a potential opponent, but who had no interest in making the fight, as he himself has said.

You make a fair enough point but this is what winds me up about JC he beats Eubanks he has two domestic fights with reed and Woodhall which again is fair enough but if he wanted to be great why not chase Jones or Toney or even fight another champ like Bayer ( I know Kessler beat him but he was champ before Kessler) Ottke ect or even a bout with Winky.
As I said in my first post you can say JC is real good but Its hard to for me to give him full respect. But his last years are slowly changing my mind

Reid and Woodhall were not 'domestic fights'.

Toney was at Cruiserweight before Calzaghe even beat Eubank.

Calzaghe did chase Jones, at least to the point of talking about him in post-fight interviews and calling him out. Jones had no interest in the fight, as he has said himself.

Bayer? Meh. Ottke, not the slightest chance he would ever take the fight.

    Winky? Was a light middleweight.

By domestic fights I meen Uk fighters so need to travel and plenty of uk fans to watch and interest and I have already said fair enough.

If jc had bothered to chase the other titles and was willing to travel I am sure RJJ fight could have been made. Why was JC unwilling to fight Bayer Ottke ect if he wanted to be p4p no1

Winkys not fought at middle weight then since jc beat eubanks

You make a valid point re Toney but dont pretend you dont get the jist.
The point of the thread was why people dont give hime credit and thats my view. JC has spent to much time not willing to travel not willing to fight the champions or big names and not willing to take risks.

Your entitled to your views as am I

I expect the p4p no 1 to take risks to chase glory and to fight anyone is that so wrong

basically saying joe c didn't did anything.. can't fight anyone of note as you said because everybody has no interest in fighting a WBO title holder that only fights in europe:good

he just sit back there at his hometown

Your hate is embarassing hombre. Even if you are correct in every point you make, surely you can see what the man brings to the table?? Or does the hate blind you?

Why people don't give proper credit for Calzaghe?

    1) Because some of his fights were not stellar.
    2) Because some people look at passports not talent.
    3) Because some fans have no real knowledge of Boxing.
    4) Because some of the other quality fighters in the division left for the weaker weight class'es, for easier fights.

If you say so. I'm not sure collecting another couple of belts changes the equation, so I'll take Jones' word that he wasn't interested.

I've seen nothing to suggest he was or wasn't interested. As I said, realistically, Sven Ottke was never in a million years going to get in a ring with Calzaghe. Bayer was never exactly a big name.

He's fought all over the place recently, but he's no longer a P4P fighter. At the time when it would have been an arguably bigger challenge than the people Calzaghe was fighting, Winky was a light middleweight.

you are right! jones has no interest in fighting calzaghe:good , i mean why would someone who holds the ring title, p4p king status, IBF,WBA,WBC,IBO every other title except for the WBO at light heavyweight would fight someone who only holds the WBO title and at a division lower than he is. Its not even a logical choice. Good point:hi:

Jones had no intrest in any real fights after Hopkins and Toney, thats why he left the division.
