Should have took their diapers off and crossed the ocean to meet the real talent ... what's your point? US is where the comp has been ... it has only been more generationally recent that boxing has improved elsewhere and the US has fallen off as the NFL/NBA/MLB have exploded in popularity dramatically lessening the talent pool for boxing at the higher weights ...

SO I AM NOW TO BELIVE RJJ WANTED NO PART OF JC BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS TO MUCH OF A RISK ? bHOP DID NOT WANT TO FIGHT JC BECAUSE HE WAS TO MUCH OF A RISK ?

OR WAS IT BECAUSE NOBODY OUTSIDE OF THE UK HAD HEARD OF JC DUE TO THE FACT HE WOULD NEVER LEAVE THE UK OR TRY TO GAIN ANYMORE TITLES OR CHASE BIG FIGHTS OR GO UP IN WEIGHT TO FIGHT A BIG NAME .hENCE NO INTEREST OR BIG MONEY

**** THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND

he beat an over the hill hopkins in a fight that could have gone either way

he is a great fighter but is still overated imo , maybe if he beats pavlik it will be justified

This is still far from definitive ... real far

No comment from Hop on the event, conversations, context, and sequence of events ... everything else is just hearsay

Also, this is in 2002. Hop was 37, Joe was what .. 29?

Unless you can substantiate how much Joe would have cleared from the fight it is difficult to access the so-called counter-offer asking for $6 mil. especially as this comes after he had just raked in some serious cash versus Trinidad.

Counter-offers aren't saying "NO" .. you're interpreting that from your vast knowledge of what is fair and reasonable ...

Though he's P4P#2 meaning he IS getting the credit he deserves at the moment BUT the fans don't seem to respect him and just love to hate him simply because of his early career. The man had the ability to set up SO many major fights yet ditched them for the WBO title and demanding that they come to Wales for him even though he was a nobody back then that actually needed them. Guys like RJJ/Tarver/Hopkins/Johnson/Toney and the list is endless, how did you miss those guys and those guys didn't miss themselves?!, all those Hopkins priced his self out and Warren not getting him fights..etc is a load of bull****. 1 fighter or even 3 I'll understand but not a ****ing que of really good fighters. Yet he ended up fighting whoever decent coming out of England at the time simply because they would make the short distance flight to fight him. It's funny though, now when both Hopkins and RJJ are too old, Joe will travel for it with a smile just to pad that record and say "Yes, I beat them".

I'm slowly becoming a Calzaghe fan and really admire his skills but I wish he used them when he was younger and HAD the ability to do so instead of using them against Cab drivers and Bartenders from Wales. One thing is for sure, the only fight I'll root against Calzaghe today is a fight against RJJ, other than that I'm pro Calzaghe but can't and won't deny those facts.

My reasons for not giving JC the credit some feel he should have are more than clear. I see were your coming from with B HOP but this is only one fighter. With so many titles and big names why leave it so late to do any thing add this to the slaping and the **** wit of a dad. Its more than i can take. More to the point I now going to throw my self of the tallest building I can find. After a wasted day talking about JC :good

    ok let's break these down.

johnson - this is the one that warren and calzaghe well and truely ****ed up and avoided for one reason or another. whether joe would have got much credit considering glencoffe's god awful record at 168 is another matter.

toney - fighting at cruiser by the time joe collected the WBO strap. neither fighter to blame here, was simply never going to happen.

tarver - burst onto the scene in late 2003 and was involved in a three way series of fights with RJJ and johnson up until late 2005. joe was in training for lacy by then. was said to be wanted by cal until hopkins pissed all over those apples.

hopkins - head of showtime as well as joe and warren claim hopkins ducked out at the last moment. nothing in reply by hopkins and king.

RJJ - again a fight joe should have pushed for. don't buy into the fact that warren claimed RJJ wasn't interested, joe has never claimed this either as far as i'm aware. in their defence, RJJ was an arsehole to deal with and not overly testing himself by the time joe was a vague someone.

But Have u noticed a trend with warren fighters hatton to extent and calzaghe needed nearly 40 fights to get recognition, because warren didn't have what it seemed the belief in both fighters.
