this is a no win situation for Amir Khan, if he looses he has lost to a "novice" and a huge set back, if he wins he was supposed to win and imagine if he wins but struggles and maybe tastes the canves again I just don't get it. way Prescott?

Frank warrens just blatantly robbing the publc while he can before khan has to step up.. i think he knows soon as someone hits him hard enough his jaw will explode into bits

its a valid question. U would think there was more milage going for fighters on the down turn of there carers who may carry some name vaule and experience rather than someone who has never been heard off.. I have a feeeling Prescott was chosen for his KO record and nothing else combine that with the fact he struggled against his only real decent opponent and there u have it a fighter who can be sold as a puncher but who it appears wont provide too much of a threat. I can see Khans speed being too much for him

He's been chosen because he is limited and has an impressive record. Unless he is freakishly durable Khan will more then likely stop him in about four or five rounds. He lacks any creativity in his attacking method. Has no proven power and a porous defence.

This is a paper match up, the kind that Sports Network subject us to 99% of the time on their shows.

With it been Amir Khan Sports Network know they don't have to make a match that appeals to boxing fans because there are enough armchair fans to foot the bill and make it sell.

TBH this is exactly what I predicted from day one with Khan his matchmaking intially was excellent but they have no desire to test him at championship level till either he grows out of his chin disorder or Warren exhausted the general publics interest in him.

Occasionally these no-mark guys spring a suprise but from what i've seen Prescott has more chance of winning the lottery and boning Cheryl Cole then getting any sort of result against Khan.

Khan is not about real boxing fans. Simple.

I don't think so Jeff. I have a funny feeling about this one. The guy hasn't come over here to lose. We all know it only takes a tap somewhere on Khan's head and he will go over. I think this fight will be a war. If Prescott has decent durability the fight could be very dangerous for Khan.

Its about the only positive from the match we can hope for.... You don't work for Sky do you. Realisticly IMO Warren will not risk his only chance of attracting big figures against anyone with half a chance.

They misjudged Limmond thinking he wouldn't have the power to hurt him and they misjudged Gomez thinking he was shot. They won't have misjudged this guy. To pick him out of every lightweight in the world- they will have researched him heavily and know he's much worse then his record suggests.

Like the russian in about Khans fifth fight, he was something like 9-1 (8ko's) he got blitzed in a minute and since has gone 0-5 all losses by knockout inside 2 rounds.

Vitali Martynov from Belarus, now 12(8)-7(7), all of his losses since Khan have come in one round. Some people thought he'd be a decent test at the time, I saw that he had been stopped in 2 by Willy Blain so knew he'd be more fragile than a piece of old china.

From what I've seen of Prescott he's pretty poor, very open, poor jab, doesn't work his way in enough, doesn't actually seem like a puncher, wings his shots a lot, doesn't make use of his height and reach advantages and is especially open to the straight right. He's a 4/5 round job like you said.

Arthur v Cook is an interesting fight though, and Foster v Fehintola might be okay. I heard Bendall v Smith is off but I think the card is just about good enough for me to sacrifice bandwidth to watch a stream.

Khan said after his first pro fight

    "not long to go now"

he was refering to winning a "real" world title

    Khan's standards have dropped

he is allowing Warren to protect him down the paper champion route

maybe we are being a bit hard on him at just 21 years old

but I think Khan has become satisfied making alot of money inside a comfort zone of low class oppostion

Michael Gomez was a brave lad - even if he is a bad egg - credit to his performance

but seriously the fact that Warren made this match - tells you that he is just milking Khans career for money - that fight was unambtious time wasting and "safe" - but it made money and kept the career ticking

why cant Warren just say - I got millions in the bank - I dont really need to make more money - lets just risk theese fighters against the best and see what happens - if they lose they lose

Spot on. If nothing else it demonstrates the superb "matchmaking" skills of Dean Powell....how the hell he found this guy I will never know.

    They make 'brilliant' errors occasionally...

    Gomez-Bogner
    Arthur-Gomez
    Mathews-Rhodes
    Szabo-Mathews
    Murray-Romanov
    Burns-Earl

You have to wonder how legit the guys record is. 17Ko's form 19 fights although most of his opponents have not been heard from before or since.

Anyone can build a record like that given the right circumstances..... Even Britian you get average fighters with exceptional records. I mean they got me to 6-0-1

    Why?

Because he will stand off Khan and allow him to show his offensive skills. He's isn't going to get into a brawl with Khan like a Gomez or Limond so there's less risk to Khans questionable chin.

He also has a padded record with a high KO count, so this makes it look like a serious match-up to anyone unable to work the internet or use Boxrec.

Got to hand it to Warren, he certainly can find/pick 'em.
