records form that neck of the woods are notoriously iffy though Jeff. Its fairly plausible he beat a bunch of roadsweepers too. In the US all you need to do as a promoter is set up your HW to have a 20-0 record and you'll probably get a million dollar fight, didnt one promoter get caught out for doing just that or something similar? Incidentally, didnt Chavez have an early defeat dissapeer of his record?
Think your thinking of Marciano..... Chavez had additional wins put on his record when he was closing on his 100 fight win streak. He certainly wasn't beaten from what I can gather and i've got most of his televised stuff on DVD. No i'm totally in agreement with you. If the likes of Kid Thunder and Zelenoff can call themselves pro fighters you have to worry.
Hindsight is a wonderful tool isnt it.. What Jeff said WAS correct. Khan did have much to loose and nothing to gain. BUT NO ONE expected him to be exposed like that. We knew his beard was soft but certainly not bone china. If Frank had his way there would have been no way Prescott would have been his opponent.
what i found disturbing was the rubbishing of an opponent who was bigger, taller and had almost more KO's than khan has had fights and 14 of those KO's inside 2 i don't care if he was bowling over tomato cans thats a puncher. and than people start gloating claiming they knew it was gonna happen common sense tells you if khan has a glass jaw and prescott can punch this was on the cards. khan would've had to have been elusive all night because prescott just had to land one and i'm sorry to say khan is not exactly sweet pea.
Indeed this is a very valid point. BUT as we all know Frank does his homework. He only takes gambles that are in his favor. Unfortunately for him this was a very stupid gamble. Prescott may have been beating tin cans but the bottom line is Khan is chinny and therefore didnt need to be in with an unknown puncher.
if only he'd done his homework, because why oh why would he put khan who has raw potential but not the finish article in with a unknown, hungary and gunslinging colombian. doesn't he know the history of colombian fighters, they are all big punchers and have caused many upsets. at least if he fought some1 like katsidis we know what he brings
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl you gotta love it
It's simple. Prescott was chosen because if you were to look at his record without knowing the facts he looks like a big puncher, therefore fooling the general public into allaying fears about Khan's chin when he wins. Khan was a 1/20 favourite despite the fact that Prescott had such a record and Khan had been knocked over by mediocre fighters with little power. What does that tell you?
