Amateur stuff here. Rudduck was a nothing. One handed fighter. A one punch fighter. No defense. Any comparison or inference in any way with Foreman is utter trash. Could not be more wrong. Foreman would manhandle Tyson and Tyson knew it.

Theres no way Lyle was a better boxer than Ruddock . Ruddock had a great jab ,even Lennox acknowledged this( when he used it ) vicious right upper cut ( a punch that dropped Morrison in round one while multiple foreman punches couldnt drop Morrison in 12 rnds) and a left hook from hell and he put it all together with less lumbering and basic boxing that Lyle used.

He was also known to get the better of holmes which why he was fired as his sparring partner. Ruddocks weakness was taller fighters than himself and a few other reasons why lewis downed him quickly AFTER two brutal Tyson fights. Lewis himself claimed ruddock would have been the champion had he not fought Tyson at all.

Side note: I knew and worked with Arthur Mercante Jr. who reffed that Ruddock vs Dokes fight and said to me he was the hardest puncher he ever had reffed a fight in.

Rudduck was a nothing. Dime a dozen one dimensional hwt fighter. One trick pony.

Rudduck never had a chance to beat Tyson as all he could do to win is hook with a much better, faster hooker. Suicide and boxing 101. Never hook with a better faster hooker. Tyson himself stated Rudduck could never beat him and this was a major reason why.

Another winner here in the league of DKSAB above ^^^^^ NO OFFENSE REALLY!

you probably dont even know what actual defense is and what makes a more superior defensive fighter is do you? Well i'll tell you bc i know you cant possibly know that question.

Its abilty to stay in range to hit and not be hit and certainly in close quarters while evading punches while counter them....take a lesson and watch these vids instead of posting nonsense post after post on here.....

Honestly, a well trained prime Tyson just could've been H2H the best ever. No one possessed the combined skills and power and speed he did in a 200+ pound package.

I think if you had a h2h round Robin between the very best h2h fighters you would have to include: Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Lewis, Tyson and Liston. I would pick either Ali (Who already beat two of these fighters) or Lewis to win this tournament, but anyone of the others could win, including Tyson, l just wouldn't call him a favorite. But had his career stopped prior to the Douglas fight l would have agreed with you. He was just never the same and at 23 that's just too short of time period to see how he would have adjusted to a prime Ali or a skilled SHW like Lewis.

In terms of styles Tyson is considered probably the best of the swarmer type fighters and he had a style similar to Dempsey. And regardless of what style you was wish to call it Cus clearly said what he said and Tyson clearly understood what he meant. And who the hell ever said a swarmer couldn't have a good defense. Tyson's defense was great for as long as he could sustain it. One of the reasons swarmers age badly is the amount of effort required to sustain it, which is why most are finished by their early 30's.

Please list any sources claiming similar to the rot you spewed forth, and i quote -

"Tyson was the best defensiive fighter in history at one point up against a guy with some VERY poor defense."

    Too funny really.

    P.S. *defensive

Outside of Frazier and Norton ? :D

    One a 5 -10 all-time great heavyweight, the other a 15 - 20 all-time heavyweight.

What was Mike's best scalp and where would they rank ?

1973 Foreman would be favoured over any version of Tyson who would, in contrast to most of his fights, be the one getting intimidated in the seconds before the opening bell.

Cus D'amaro actually knew a thing or two about boxing.

Tyson was a well schooled boxer who fought going forward. I've never seen much similarity between Tyson and any other aggressive heavyweight. Tyson slipped, moved in quickly in a balanced stance, and ripped punches inside of the opponent. Being balanced and the weight shifts he managed while maintaining his balance has always separated him from the rest IMO.

I don't think any good trainer would tell his fighter that he was just a swarmer and that there was a type of fighter out there that he couldn't beat. Any trainer who would do that isn't much of a trainer.

If you want to make an argument for why Tyson beats an atg puncher who demolished an atg heavyweight champ then using Razor ****ing Ruddock as the base of your argument will not win over anyone that actually has eyes.

Dont put Tyson up against Foreman please... I like Tyson but Foreman is the one guy that completely destroys him.
