i have never heard that before. i know that they could o met if pipino had beaten hearns in the sumer of 1980
Yes and then he said yes please to Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran, and Marvin Hagler. atsch Slap yourself.
The unification fight between Cuevas and SRL was proposed before the first Duran fight, but Ray sat ringside and wached Cuevas break Harold Volbrecht into pieces. Ray was still "green" at the time coming off his title winning effort against light hitting Benitez. Guess Ray thought Duarn would have been an easier fight...wrong ! History would have really been changed if Cuevas had beaten SRL in the unification, then Duran beat Cuevas to take the Title. Duran could have defended against Leonard (who he really disliked), or took on Hearns who Duran knew was his personal nitemare. So Duran beats Leonard in an easier fight, then Roberto ends up facedown against Hearns. All Hearns' defenses after that are really speculation. But Ray, the businessman, made the right decisions for himself.
This is a great post that really gets to the heart of the proper place for Leonard all time. In the end though he is unquestionably a legend and an ATG, the only debate is how high you rank him all time.
dont blame norris for **** sake he was slipping and as we found out later on was showing signs of punch drunkness.there was a reason at his "tender" age that he couldnt defend himself anymore. less and less snap less and less urgancy. it was an upset that he was stopped by mullings, but you should remember that it wasnt the terrible one we saw a few years before. and in that, mullings didnt do **** for i think 7 rounds or so until he smacked a right hand on to terry norris's jaw.
