An argument can be made for Roberto Duran as the best lightweight ever.
I don't think he has the quality of opposition to be rated #1 but a case can be made for him based on dominance over a good few years.

What lightweight has considerable better? As in, combined with the title reign/dominace. I think it's harder to argue Durán isn't the #1, than the other way round.

Yes. You might even remember the phase. At one point Duran could do no wrong but the flavor of the month changed to Williams and Armstrong at different points. All incredible worthy fighters of course.

JT - I have sat back in the shadows watching and seen it all - just as I make my return like Batman to save Classic Boxham City, I get trapped inside with nothing but work, the family and home education and our fitness plan to work to.

I remember MM becoming a much more rounded poster - I have actually considered whether @George Crowcroft and MM were one in the same - do you remember when AchillestheGreat and MM used to get into 5 page battles?

I can assure you. We are not.

I mean, I don't think you need proof, but i can show I am actually 16 and my own person, not some weird hermit having his midlife.

Duran used to be my default #1 at Lightweight, until people started talking to me about Canzoneri, Williams, Gans Leonard etc.

As you say, arguable - but there's a lot of proven talent in the rich history of Lightweight boxing.

No accusations on my part and only congratulations for your boxing knowledge at your age.

Is that what happened to MM? Has he become a hermit - I would think he's too young to have a midlife crisis, surely?

LOLOL!!! I knew George wasn't him as I've watched George evolve - FAST. Have a look at his ATG list a year or two back lol

He and another youngster in roughdiamond have breathed some new life into the place (not to discount other older posters who have emerged and re-emerged) with their maturity and unlimited potential. They are not afraid to call a spade a spade with people but don't get carried away with the exuberance of youth. rough reminds me more of Manassa and he, like Manassa, mostly stays away from the heavyweight stuff. It's good watching guys like this evolve.

Lol - I meant your knowledge.

I'm always impressed by logical-minded, astute fight fans that can break down styles as I have witnessed from you. You're not a fan boy and I enjoy reading your work. It reminds me of Manassa Mauler - he was an excellent poster in his own right.

@JohnThomas1 hope you and your family are safe in this current climate mate and to everyone else.

    God, don't remind me.

I think I had Harry Wills at 23 or some ****, above Wilde! And I forgot Bob Fitzsimmons. Christ.

I copped a ban for that!

So far so good Meta and same to you mate. Oh and i do remember Achilles and MM. He and Stonehands89 had some good battles too with both refusing to budge.
