The concept of this thread has seemingly gone over some people's heads. I don't mean that Durán is the GOAT, I mean he is the best. The difference being that greatness = achievements, best = what somebody can do in the ring.

Durán's skill level, combined with his physical attributes make him the best fighter ever. I explained this in the article.

As for Greatness, he's in the mix for the top 10, but there's like 15 guys who are actually eligible, and Durán is one of them. I think he's a lock, but a case can be made for 10 people over him.

The best ever was, and still is Sugar Ray Robinson.

    Just some facts here, gents.

Duran weighed 132 when he won the lightweight title from Buchanan.
He weighed 145 when he beat SRLeonard in Montreal.
He weighed 154 when Hearns TKO'd him.

Maybe, possibly, he was fighting JUST a little above his best weight when he lost to Hearns.

    Maybe. Possibly.

How?Hearns gave Leonard hell while Duran quit!
    Hearns also destroyed Duran!
So how man who prove twice he was better could not be better than Duran?

    I listened bunch of nonsense!
Man destroyed by Hearns and quit against Leonard could not be better than them!
But if you have that quitter and jerk in top 10 you are insane!
He is maybe in top 20 but I don't think so!

Well beating Leonard and Barkley for a start.

How about going 15 with Hagler?

How about being the greatest LW ever?

"The greatest LW" was twice outboxed by bums in his prime,by Benitez and Camacho,Leonard and Hagler and was killed by Hearns!
Sanchez and Locche are much, much better!

    Sánchez and Locche weren't LWs.

None of those fights were at LW. Durán was shot to **** for Camacho. He also beat Leonard...

Hearns does that to any LW.

His head wasn't in the game for Benítez or Laing, he also was old for Simms. Can you name me another LW who'd beat Barkley? Go 15 with Hagler? BEAT LEONARD? No. You can't.

Do you think Locche would have done any better against those guys than Duran did?

I'm not even sure Locche fares as well as Duran did against all of Duran's top opponents pre-Leonard...
