Really he just forgot how to do side to side movement.

I can not understand why is he simply moving backwards until his back is on the ropes.

Has anybody from his corner ever told him? Has he ever watched one of his recent fights? I think if he just avoid being on the ropes he can beat Tarver or Johnson.

I don't get it. :huh :huh

Yea...it doesn't look good for him but it does provide for an entertaining fight.

I really think it's his corner. They aren't getting through to him that he can't do that. His cornerman just says "do what you do". They don't get on him and make him see what he does wrong and work on how to fix it. I really hate trainers who just let a fighter do what he wants to and is just concerned with keeping his mouth shut and keeping his job.

Because he's old and his legs don't work like they used to.

I think Roy fights well off the Ropes...its a myth that he is in trouble against the ropes. Tarver knock him out in the open, not with his back against the ropes and so di Glen Johnson. He fought Johnson well off the ropes. He is older and doesnt have the stamina to stay in the center of the ring so he does need to be effective off the ropes.

Because he no longer has the legs to escape anymore.Often times when fighters legs are shot they'll use the ropes to rest there legs.

His leg speed appears to be at around 20% these days. His stamina is also not so good. On the ropes he can conserve energy and land quick sides on the inside.

He has always done this, it is not age. I think he likes the tactic.

However, when he did it earlier in his career he avoided getting hit better and was able to counter impressively off the ropes.

Hes been doing that since the Julio Gonzalez fight in 2001. Probably even before that. Its nothing new with Roy Jones.

Roy can fight effectively off the ropes, people think that Glen Johnson wqas the 1st to try the "pressure apporach" to beat Roy. Bryant Brannon tried it 1st and got ktfo in the 2nd round. And roy fought on the inside for while it lasted. 1 reason i think roy is on the ropes more is age, but i also think the yr layoff affected him as well. B/c in the Ajamu fight he did g2 the ropes, but as the fight went on he started circling to his right and left. So i think the yr layoff had somethin 2 do with it. IRJ needs 2 stay active, i think in his next fight he will look much better.
