It's amazing considering he visited Gerald Maclellen and was very aware of ending up like that, to the point he started slowing down on beating down fighters he fought. I remember HBO commenting how he was carrying fighters afraid to hurt them and had changed his perspective due to Gerald. This was years after Gerald got hurt but I remember the impression it had on Roy later on.
Someone kidnap him and surgically remove his knuckles already. Or an ankle. Anything would be better than letting him continue to fight with an inoperable brain in ten years. I'd also like to take this moment to point out that Roy was always a fighter, and wasn't afraid to take on a challenge, as all too many suggest. There are few indications he's broke, and he consistently goes up against dangerous men in their division when he has no business even being in the ring in the first place. He didn't just suddenly a pair of balls that he didn't have before taking on all the guys he has without even considering Ruiz and Tarver the first time around.
Roy is my favorite fighter and I wish he would just hang it up. Pp4 he is one of the greatest ever in my book. Also if he is still going to fight then he needs to let his ****ing hands go. He still has enough hand speed but he sits back as if he has the same reflexes to get out of the way of guys now and he stays on the ropes more than he did when he was young. Damn shame.
Roid Jones Jr. is a delusional, Glass Jawed Joke and a disgrace to boxing. I hope this Feather Fisted Fraud with a whopping 2 KO record flattens him and ends his fraudulent comeback campaign brutally. He has no Chin. none.
Watch Max freaking Alexander stop him, just channeling the wrath of the boxing gods and striking him down for his silly and now absurd boasts. Honestly, that would be the best case scenario for him if we're being real. Being shamed into once-and-for-all retirement like that would spare him a lot of pain down the road if he were to get Tarver in the ring...let alone a top 15-20 HW...let alone a ****ing Klitschko. :scaredas:
If the K brothers won't fight Holyfield, I doubt they'd fight Roy. They're both smart, they'll know it's a no win situation for them.
Why, for stating my opinion on a fighter? Roid is a proven drug cheat, proven cherrypicker, and a proven Glass Jawed Joke. He ducked all the best power punchers of his generation, made his bones off of beating up municipal workers and assorted other no-hopers, cherrypicked the biggest feather fisted bum he could find with a trinket belt at HW, and then got his abysmal Glass Jaw shattered brutally by a B+ fighter in Tarver and a feather fisted Glen Johnson. He is a joke and no matter how hard you cling to his nuts nothing will change that.
Jones Jr. talks and acts perfectly fine. Toney is the same age, never been KO'd, but is the one that sounds like a vegetable.
Roy wants to think about his quality of life after Boxing. What good is the money if you have lost your faculties? For a guy that fought as tentatively & cautious as what Roy did, as though not to get hit, its strange to see him doing this
how broke can he be? even he is broke, cant he survive off commentating salary? unless he has some unforgivable debt owed to the mob, i dont see why the he needs to be putting his long term health in danger. its obvious he's beyond shot.
