Look at his ****ing girlfriend (now fiance)!!! :admin :admin :admin :admin :admin I'm not even close to kidding, how are you supposed to take training seriously when the alternative to it is her?????? UFC OCTOGAN GIRL - ALI SONOMA This content is protected
From what I heard, he had a staff infection in his leg that opened up a hole the size of a coffee cup a few days after the fight. Apparently, he was prepared to announce his retirement at the weigh in, because his medical tests kept coming back all messed up, and he didn't know why. I guess it was from the staff infection. However, I don't feel that is an excuse as to why he lost to Kos. I felt that Kos was going to beat him, and predicted him to do so.
If there is a difference between beating someone, and winning. Kos won that fight, and a lame win at that.
Yeah, the staff infection thing is true. I disagree with your prediction though. I think Sanchez is the better fighter and would beat Kos rather decisively if they rematch. Just look how quickly he reversed him when they did go to the ground. An aggressive, healthy and motivated Diego beats Kos :deal
Well, when I heard the infection reason for his performance in that fight, they also said such a serious infection would take something like 18 months to recover from, much less to train. I didn't see anything like that, and I haven't heard anyone from UFC say that this is true, though I may have missed it. If it's true it's dumb for Sanchez and the UFC to have let it go off. It should have been a great fight that was one sided and boring. The fans lost that fight along with Sanchez.
Definitely possible. The problem is that I think Kos decides that. Kos can make the fight stay on their feet every single time. Sanchez doesn't have anything for him on their feet... and Kos wins that boring battle again. Sanchez is a dawg on the ground, but Kos doesn't have to go their if he doesn't want to, against Sanchez.
But Kos isn't THAT good on his feet to keep Sanchez in check.....I didn't think so. Sanchez was just so hesitant, I think he might have been dis-illusioned about how good his standup was and thought he would dominate the on-foot battle, and when he wasn't kind of froze up and didn't know what to do. If he was more aggressive and pressing I think it would have been a different story.
But his standup was found to be extremely ordinary at best against a good, aggressive striker in GSP. I'm not bashing Kos, I think he's good. I just don't think he is that much better of a striker then Diego. I think Diego just had a really bad night.
