Because he gave his word that he would and against Bernard Hopkins... When a fighter wants to be Great, the Greatest, his words cannot become volatile and "adjust" to the circumstances. Joey has to go for all or nothing, just like Hatton did, that is what makes greatness - not accepting Sports Personality Awards in a casually dressed V-neck and jeans...

At least, by saying that, they realise that it can be close and decided by mere details... Hatton was not robbed, Lewis was not that disfavoured and Calzaghe has a lot of reasons to believe he will beat Hopkins soundly... Problem is that Calzaghe is himself getting haunted by other people's ghosts and that will not help make this fight come through. Joe must go for it and fight him like Kessler, that's all.

More current American champions fight in Europe than vice versa.

The guerrero entry is backwards - he fought in Europe once but never defended against a Euro in USA.

Joe should come to US for Hopkins in 2008.

    1) Money $, $, $, $
    2) Build his legacy more internationally
    3) Serious hype! Look @ Mayweather / Hatton
    4) Not all bad decisions go for Us fighters in the US. Chavez / Whitaker

I have no prob with Joe fighting a bout in the US.

    1. It will be good for his legacy
    2. I could do with a trip to a financially inferior country to save some money
    3. He'll make more money
    4. I like Hooters

calzaghe is not a draw in america and will never be a draw in america, he does not have the hatton like charisma and is only 2 fights away from retirement.

i read that the biggest most important fight in europe, namely calzaghe v kessler which went ahead at 2am in the morning uk to suit american prime time had HBO worst ever figures for a prime time fight albeit they only put in $3 million of the total pot.

the figures i saw was that HBO got A 2.6 % market share.

after that how much money are HBO going to pump into the pot in america for a calzaghe fight ?
