People are still wanting GGG to move up even though he's a natural MW. Guys like Hagler and Monzon, 2 ATG MWs, fought @ MW and NEVER moved up a weight division at all. They both dominated and ruled the MW division, something that I think Golovkin should do as well. Why should he be pressured to move up right away when he could just stick around and remain MW champion? Golovkin has proven once more that he is the MAN of MW right now and I can see him conquering the MW division for a very long time.
Because of Black-American haters who have hope that the clown Ward beats him. They can not deal with the fact that GGG is the real deal and would send their heros Floyd, Ward and Hopkins to hospital. There are no special fights at SMW. Ward ducked him twice, didn't fight for a year and I doubt we will see him in the near future. Froch mentioned twice he would never fight GGG. He made a poll who he should fight next, fans picked GGG but since then he disappeared. Chavez. Jr ducked GGG when the contract was almost signed. Abraham and Stieglitz would never take the risk to fight GGG. There is no one he could fight and the division sucks anyway. GGG has to fight: Cotto Canelo Quillin Floyd These are fights we are waiting for.
Unfortunately GGG can't prove his greatness at 160, because the competition isn't as good as it was during Monzon and Hagler era.
For obvious reasons none of the top middleweights want to fight him. The guys up at smw would def give him some good competition with the exception of froch who has said he would never get in the ring with GGG lol.
Nowadays as long as you remain on top of the division and keep defending your titles no matter the quality of oppositions you'll still be seen as great. Hell, look at Ricardo Lopez. Ruled the strawweight division which was a barren wasteland of a division when he could have moved up any time (which he did eventually at the tail end of his career, but he never fought any great fighters) and he's still seen as an ATG.
GGG trainer has been documented saying GGG isn't ready for Ward. Also Chavez is having contract issues with top rank as is Ward with goosen promotion.
Yes, why should he, when the so called "TBE" won't fight anyone in a division above his one? Is Golovkin held to higher standards than the "TBE"???!!! :think:think:think
Ward can come down to 160 to fight GGG. Ward shouldn't be calling out fighters from smaller divisions unless he's willing to move down. You don't hear Ward offering to move up to 175 to fight Kovalev. He wants a smaller opponent because he knows he can't win without an advantage.
GGG is the man at 160, few would deny this. But we're in an age where fighters rehydrate to different weight classes. Where different belts actually mean something to unknowable fans. Golovkins only recourse is to move up. Hagler and Monzon were forced to move up for recognition, todays game is different. Go back to same day weigh ins and only one or two totles and Golovkin can stay where hes at. Until that happens heneed to bounce.
Golovkin doesn't need to move unless he himself can't make the middleweight limit it's mostly Americans wanting him to move up they are scared he will be seen as the best ever middle by the time he retires
Moving is actually what's best for him. He may find that he did nothing more than waste his life, career, and talent if he keeps waiting around for fights that may never come.
Yes, and they want him to move up because they believe the chances of him losing are greater if he fights bigger men than himself. But some Americans like him, he was warmly received by the Mexican-American fans in California. :good They appreciate a real ring warrior when they see one!
There's room for him to be questioned as well, look at the order in which he calls out the big money fights. Cotto, Canelo, JC jr. literally from smallest to biggest, let's not pretend the guy doesn't have size advantage on his mind. And destroying guys bigger than you can be highly lucrative, just ask Pac, but make sure you're clean if you decide to go that route and succeed, you will be questioned.
Only the bias claim that he SHOULD move up, but he'd do wonder for his career moving up considering all the competition there (all of which is better than anything at Middle at the moment)
