It's absurd but Froch did say it, it's in an interview. And he looked serious while saying so.

GGG is a bad ass mother****er, no doubt about it!! He has fantastic skills and seems like a nice genuine guy too which is geat. Why should he move up? Simple really and thats because he has no competition at 160. Rubio was a corpse last night. Of course he would beat Floyd, we have divisions for a reason. GGG knows this thats why he doesnt go after Floyd. He would also beat the **** out of Hopkins.....because Hopkins is 50!!

A fight with Ward would be great, and one i would favour Ward to win. There is so much competition and bigger fights for him at SMW. In Britain alone Froch, Degale, Paul smith, Groves would all be better names than the Rubio that showed up last night. I would fancy GGG in all of those fights to win.

Cotto/Alvarez/Lara/Floys/Pac are just too small for GGG. The 160lb fighters are probably too small for him in relation to his power. I would love him to move up and beat the **** out of the bigger guys and really make a statement. Future Pound for pound king in the making.

Froch did not say that, talk about taking him out of context. I cant stand Froch but he did not say that.

He has not beaten one HOF caliber fighter. So, if he wants to be great or fight the best he will have to seek out those challenges. Ward is the only HOF caliber fighter that has unequivocally expressed interest in fighting GGG. And he just happens to one division up. GGG can stay at 160 and keep dominating these 2nd and 3rd tier fighters, and building his brand, while he is waiting on Cotto. But, of course, Cotto is waiting on him to look beatable. So are all the other top fighters at 160. Or, he can take on a top P4P, HOF bound fighter, sooner rather than later. I think Ward would do a C/W for this one.

GGG is in his prime but he is over 30. The window is closing, unless he can do this in his 40's like Hopkins. If he wants to build a meaningful legacy, it might make sense to not sit back and wait. If he's just trying build interest and profitability...well he is doing the right thing by remaining busy and looking impressive every time out. It's not his fault the top fighters in his division aren't lining up to fight him. But, if he wants to be great, he needs to do something extraordinary. He has time...but not a lot.

Personally, I think Team GGG knows that Ward would be a mountainous step up, and they don't want that fight until they need it.

    ^This

If GGG wants to get to that #1 spot while he's in his prime he needs that defining win. Ward is that and then some. Time to stop feeding on easy competition and show the world who's THE MAN in the sport of boxing.

Then should Ward move up and fight Kovalev?

Ward has had no fights this year, nothing left for him at 168.

GGG has had three fights this year at 160, and still has Cotto, Alvarez, Quillan and the winner of Korobov-Lee at 160. And Chavez or Froch would be more financially rewarding fights at 168 when he does move up.

Ward can move up if he wants. Just like GGG can if he wants. But nobody has questions on just good Ward is. IMO, nobody at MW will give him that challenge. Ward has shown interest, so I say why not. That would be the win GGG would need to put him over the top.

And the issue still keeps going. Let GGG conquer the MW division, and then move up when the time is right.
