Why should hatton retire if amir khan is gonna be the next world champion?

    let's get this logic sorted.

Roach thinks hatton should retire for health reasons bcus he got knocked out by blatantly the p4p king right now

But he thinks amir khan has improved and will be next champ......even though he got knocked out by Prescott?

Add to that in his last fight against a blinded barrera he was wobbled by virtually the first clean punched barrera landed......even after khan had been knocking the blinded Mexican for two rounds and barrera didn't even seem hurt!

Sometimes it is easy for roach to talk about what other people should do but what about what is infront of him?

I respect him as a coach and khan has skils. But that glass chin is more of a problem than hatton's

    Any thoughts?

Thoughts? You have missed the point.

Hatton should retire as he has been operating near the top of the game for several years now and it is clear that he is going to find it much much harder to compete at that level now. He will never reach the same heights as he did in the past, he will always be fighting at a lower level than in the past. Not to mention he looked so gaunt at the weigh-in that I could have sworn that they just wheeled out some random smack-addict granny. Hatton is going to find making 140 and being effective too difficult given his poor lifestyle (no excuses for the loss, I don't think any version of Hatton would have won). There is nowhere to go, there are no fights worth taking at 147 that he could win.

Roach's main point is about Ricky's health, given that he has had 12 years worth of punches to the head (and this is 12 years with a head first defensively lacking approach) he is much more liable to start suffering the effects than Khan who, in all fairness, does not get hit anywhere near as much as Hatton and he has had less than 4 years in the pro game and still has a lot of potential, unlike Ricky. It's not just about getting knocked out, its about taking punches to the head. Loads of fighters with good chins now exhibit a variety of health problems, in terms of long term health it's probably better to go down from one punch than it is to take sustained beatings.

If he isn't suffering from any psychological effects from his decapitation than I don't see why Hatton should retire.

He is still a player at 140 w/ a lot of fights there.

He is a huge draw to boot.

If he doesn't become gunshy or start pissing his pants at the thought of getting hit then he should keep on fighting if he wants.

At the expense of his health for the rest of his life? There is a reason why so many ex-pros should have retired a few fights earlier.

Nothing more to prove and not so much scared as scarred after the Mayweather fight and those scars cannot be removed after 6 mins against manny.
One of the all time greats of British boxing, even with predictable tactics and a lifestyle that caught up with him.
Cannot see him being box office unless he fights Khan...but Warren is to smart & will not let that happen
