In fairness, if Lomachenko started the fight the way he fought at the second half, he would've won it. I'm all for the rematch.

While it may not be a popular opinion, if I was asked to consider the matter from a strictly business standpoint, I too would advise Lopez to decline a rematch.

The boxing public is not really clamoring for a rematch, and the risk/reward arithmetic argues strongly against agreeing to one.

Why? Well, a victory over a physically smaller, considerably older man he's already beaten would merely reaffirm the old adage that a "good big man beats a good little man."

If Lopez were to lose, however, his career momentum---not to mention his short term earning potential--would screech to an untimely halt. Indeed Lopez's victory in the first fight would be increasingly attributed to Loma's injury, early inactivity etc.

Hence the rewards in many respects pale in comparison to the risks.

For these reasons (and a good bit of personal animus), I believe Lopez will ultimately reject a Loma rematch.

Not a fan of rematches? Some of the best fights ever were rematches. SMH.

You've misunderstood..im not a fan of the current trend of ..rematch clause written into every contract for the A side fighter.... E.g the fury Vs wilder trilogy....Whyte Vs povetkin 2...and many other examples of fights stalling boxing and the fans missing out on good fights due to rematches tying fighters up.

Of course I love rematches of close fights, some need to happen..but I can wait a few years for those rematches... Pacquiao Vs Marquez, Morales Vs Barrera...etc
