Can someone please give me a logical reason?

How does a fight with Williams benefit Shane in any way?

I think everyone accepts he shouldn't have to. The WBA belt is hardly held hostage, Mosely will drop that like a hot potato if they try and make some mandatory fight.

Mosley has earned his dues. I doubt he will get to fight pac though.

To be honest I don't really care. I think he needs to retire. His speech is becoming slurred.

What does a Shane victory over Williams do?
What does a Williams victory over Shane do?

They still will be avoided by everyone except Margarito & Clottey.

The fight makes no sense, IMO.

Bcause Shane keeps saying he is the best Welterweight out there. Not only that, he keeps saying he is the best fighter out there. Then he makes the assinine statements that he wants to fight to see who's the best. If that is the case, he should fight one of the few guys out there who actually wants to fight him. And someone who many people belive will spank his ass.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same **** people like to hate PBF for?

Kinda bro, But Mosley already handled Mayweather's WW business.. By fighting both Cotto & Margarito.
(& in a very short period of time)

If it makes money it makes sense. boxing is a business and these fighters deserve to pick the fight with the most money if they dont have a mandatory. so if makes money the mosley should go for it.

I don't see how beating Williams will prove he's the best. In todays boxing landscape you have to beat Pac or Floyd to get that recognition.

    Exactly, other fans forget this.

This fight for Mosley would only extend his legacy. Once again fighting the guy nobody seems to want to face, but i think he's had enough of that and would like to get the big money/center stage fight. Whats wrong with that?

Though I wouldn't mind seeing this fight, I dont think it has much benefit to mosley other than cementing his legacy, which he's already done. Win or Lose he would gain much respect for facing off with another opponent most fear. Also, there aren't many options for him right now. Pac's fighting Cotto, Floyd's fighting JMM, which really leaves mosley without a mega-fight until probably late 2010. His only options, if he wants to stay busy, are to either further cement his legacy by fighting P.Williams or give Berto a shot.

He is a prize fighter. What other benefit does he need. How about the lineal WW title for eighting Williams? How about his biggest purse since DLH?(promised by Dan Goosen) How about headlining a HBO world championship boxing, thus bringing more exposure which we know is the only way to get more money. In light of the points i just made, I think the question should be why would Mosley be willing to sit it out for over a year at his older age?

Trouble lurks, do you think Mosley is capable of knocking p-dub out?

This is what I don't get. Everyone said PBF avoids the welters, well Williams, Clottey and Berto are all Welters and their calling for Mosley yet he says "why should I fight them, no money there" he only wants big money fights, the same thing PBF did in fighting DLH & Hatton and he still gets criticised for it.

I don't think he will sit out for over a year. I think Berto will be his next fight. He can stay busy and pick up a strap for less money and less risk. Williams may offer more money now, but there's a very good chance he could derail really big fights for Mosley in the future.

I definitely think Mosley is "capable" of knocking him out. I just don't see ANY welter beating Williams unless the weight becomes an issue.

one has fought 2 of the top WW's in his last 3 bouts, the other hasn't fought a real WW that was a threat. nobody is saying mayweather has to fight all the real WW's but at least one would be nice.
