That's exactly why the fight makes sense. There's nobody else who's going to face them who will get them paid, so they might as well face each other.

I don't think Mosley HAS to fight Williams, or vice versa, but it's not like Mosley has many other options. Williams at least can try to make a fight with any number of other guys at 154 and 160. Mosley knows he's not his best at 154, and it would make more sense for him to fight Williams at 147 than for him to fight a bigger name at 154.

Shane is a great fighter no doubt but he ain't a superstar that should only fights mega fights. Mosley ain't really a draw. Take away the De la hoya fight and many casual fans wouldn't know who Mosley was. Few years ago Mosley was in 2 undercards fights. One was in the undercards of Cintron vs Margarito first fight. The other he was in the undercard of freaking Barrera vs Peden for goodness sake.


Sure Mosley vs Margarito was mostly pack by fans in staples but my goodness mostly all fans in that arena was pro Margarito fans and Mosley only got pay 2 million for that fight. So again Mosley is not really a draw so he don't deserve to fight only mega fights like a Mayweather or Pacquiao. If none of those 2 ain't avaliable then fight Williams and he'll get his biggest pay day way way more then his last 2 fights.


If Mosley not only can beat Williams but tko Williams then his legacy will rise greatly cause back2back he will have ko 2 most avoided fighters and 2 bigger fighters in 5'11 margarito and 6'2 Williams.
