Why shouldn't Cotto & Hatton fight?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by MasterCalzaghe, Jun 10, 2008.

  1. Sure Hatton may get beat but that's beside the point Cotto laboured @ 140 for a long time so he can boil down if he wanted to.

Plus lets not forget he beat Paul Malignaggi over 12 rounds at this weight, what if Hatton does the same job in under 12 @ the same weight to the same man hmm?

Boiling down to 140 is not in Cotto's future.

It's not good for him and he knows that.

Why not it seems like a good fight I personally would like to see it happen. Probably never will though too much risk for both but mostly hatton.

If the fight was at 140?

Hatton would kill him, assuming the walk to the ring didn't finish Cotto off first.

    What about a catchweight?

143, 144lbs ?? Im sure Cotto could manage that, although it's still probably too risky.

Cotto will never fight at 140 again.

  9. Catchweight then of 142 - 144. Having Hatton on his resume would look stunning for Cotto and same of Cotto for Hatton if he won; this sight is a no brainer for me anything less is a cop-out from these boxers after their next fights now Floyd has left the scene.

Hatton isn't moving up and Cotto isn't moving down, simple.

I really don't see what the big deal of these two to fight each other. Besides the money, Cotto will stop Hatton at 147. Cotto trying to make 140, he will be lucky if he can make 147 by next year. Hatton should stay at 140 and clean out the division and also fight Pacman. Yes, it would look great for either fighter to have a win on their resume, but this is one of those fantasy match-ups to talk about. For Hatton to stay healthy and strong, he needs to make sure he does not blow-up too much when he is not fighting. This would make such a difference in his performances at 140. 147, forget about it. Collazo and PBF showed everyone that Hatton belongs at 140.

Hatton has a chance against a weight drained Cotto at 140. Personally I think Team Hatton (ie. his fatha) would take that fight but no better than taking him on anything north of 140 (where it would be au revoir career).

    I'd watch this fight..
and to be honest I'd give Hatton a very good chance here.
Kinda like watching a tone "Chavez Vs. Rosario" again...why not.
(Not comparing, just in styles boys...)

Hatton can fight @ Welterweight Vs. Cotto.
and make it a fight, no doubt in my mind.
