Why shouldn't David Haye get a shot at a heavyweight tittle.

Well they don't approach being Heavyweight gatekeepers because they are not Heavyweights. But the gatekeepers of the Heavyweight divison are the most out of shape, poorly skilled set of gatekeepers the Heavyweight scene has ever had.

The best fighters outside of the top 3 are old men who were on the fringes of being World Champs 10 years ago.

Err, aren't you one of the people who thinks Kelly Pavlik's resume ought to earn him a shot at the SMW and LHW number one?

Beyond Jermaine Taylor, who has some clear flaws and had struggled to beat LMWs fighting above their weight, where are the names there? His resume is very similar to Haye's except that Haye has had less pro fights, Mormeck was more of a proven champion than Taylor (and Haye fought him on his own turf), Macarinelli is better than Miranda and Fragomeni is better than Zertuche or Zuniga.

Well like people have said he needs to bulk up first and fight a few decent heavyweights before he has a fight for the championship. But it wouldn't suprise me if he knocks is opponent out first round.

It's still a damn thin record. Very, very thin. Not exactly the type of resume that gets you a pass on having to fight any top ten or even top twenty heavies.

This is my opinion on the matter, if Pavlik derserves to move up and get an immediate title shot why doesnt Haye.

My personal opinion is that Haye should take a tune up decent HW first though.

I think hayes inclusion in the heavyweight division will make the division come alive again because you have the possibilty of getting knocked out or knocking somebody out.

I agree he should and I also think he will.

This is mostly due to circumstances though - heavyweight has a number of champions who have manditories to take care of whereas Calzaghe has cleared out everyone he needs to at SMW already.

Still it has happened plenty of times where someone has moved up a division and got a title shot even though a mandatory has been waiting a while.

Precisely, so why does Floyd get a shot where other people shouldn't?

Not arguing with that he does deserve a shot but maybe as other people have said that he may want a tune up.

I agree he should have a tune up, and he probably will but if he got the title shot id find it hard to complain when its ok for other fighters to do the same thing.

I think he'd be a decent challenger to any of the champions, but he's better off having some HW practice first, both for his ability at the weight, and also to build up his rep. I think as well that he is planning to do this anyway, so I see little need for controversy. He'll fight a name heavy or two, then get a title shot, and then he'll be a champion (though against Wlad I'd favour him by only a little).

    I'm tired of Haye already.

He should fight a few big named heavies before fighting for a title.
