Why since his loss to PBF, people are acting as if Hatton isnt an elite fighter??

Ricky Hatton is one of the best fighters out there for everything that has to do with boxing and I don't even like his fighting style... Floyd had everything but an easy fight with this guy, don't let the punch stats trick you cuz he had to stand and fight against who was forcing the fight and at a hard pace - in that concern, I totally agree with Manny Steward's comments before and after the fight. There are many 140 pounders who could have the style to beat Ricky but they still have to prove it - Witter, Malignaggi, Torres... Ricky is an elite fighter simply b.c. he competed in the highest of spotlights.

It doesnt matter who floyd fights, he'll always be accused of ducking and taking the easy road.If he faught Williams instead of Hatton, then hes deathly afraid of Hatton. If he fights Cotto, he's ducking the feared Williams. He beats Hatton, now all of a sudden Hatton is a nobody. Even if he beats Williams, Cotto and Cintron, there will always be an up and coming prospect who Floyd will be accused of ducking. Let's also not forget that many people thought DeLaHoya would beat Floyd and then the same people said oh well DeLaHoya's past it. While i would love to see him fight everyone, the man is simply a victim of his own skill,.

Humility has nothing to do with ability.A FIGHTER has to believe in themselves before anyone else can. Ali said he was the greatest and was hated until his career ended, but he proved it and sits atop everyones top heavyweight list. The same will go for Roy Jones and Mayweather, whom are the best of there time.

Everyone has something to say about his competiton but look at everyone elses last four fights.

Cotto- beat Judah who lost his last 2 fights, and a 36 year old Mosley while is still good isnt great anymore and hasnt been since 2001, and before that he faced a good young fighter in Quintana, and went back and forth with no name Ricardo Torres...... not a murderer's row itself.

Mayweather-just beat Hatton a two division champion, a past prime ODLH and WBC beltholder, Zab Judah former 2 division champ, and welterweight Carlos Baldomir

Which do you think is more impressive????

is that people measure Floyd Mayweather and his opponent selection a little harsher than they critique other fighters.

I don't like how he claims to have been capable of beating Sugar Ray Leonard, claims to be better than Muhammad Ali and on par with Ray Robinson, and then fight Hatton instead of demanding a fight with Cotto.

Example 1: A)When Floyd Mayweather faced Zab Judah and beat him it was regarded as a ho-hum victory to critics and posters here. Judah was still a top 3 welterweight and just coming off a close lose of his title to new champion Baldomir.

You said it all. Baldomir is a joke, and Zab Judah losing to him also made him a joke. Put it into perspective, the current p4p champion fights Judah who got schooled by Baldomir! Don't add up.

    B) When Miguel Cotto beat Zab Judah (who was 0-2 and 1 no-contest in his last 3 fights prior) the same fans and critics said the fight illustrated Cotto's presumed greatness.....now thats bull****.

Nobody thought the Judah fight was that amazing of a win for Cotto. Not that I know of anyway.

Anyway, Ricky Hatton was a top 10 pound for pound fighter, undefeated, and a 2 division titlist and a champion at the weight right below Mayweather

+ Was almost knocked out by Luis Collazo at Welter, and considering old Mosley absolutely schooled Collazo after, puts everything into perspective. Hatton is Junior Welter and should stay there. At Welter, he has no power, has no chin, or any staminia. Proven by the Collazo fight.

    Paul Williams,Hatton and Mosley

If asked who were the least threatening to Floyd at the time, I and a lot of others would ahve said Hatton at Welter isn't as thretening as Williams or Mosley. Coincidentally, Floyd picked the least threatening.

Absolutly right. I never understood the bashing of Hatton or PBF for their fight. PBF is the best in the world. Losing to him means you are not and everyone already knew that going in. Ricky is definetly one of my favorite fighters but I gave him little chance to beat PBF.

:smoke I agree, there isnty really anything he can do. His is on the right road. IMO he should face Cotto and the winner of a Cintron-Williams showdown. This would prove he can hang with full fledged welterweights. After that I'd think he should retire. Unless DLH beat Spinks for the vacant junior middleweight title, which would make a rematch with Oscar a more marketable fight.

even before the fight, i had Hatton outside my top10 p4p. I also stated that the ref helped him too much in his win over Tszyu, and that at 147lbs he is not a very good fighter.

All this was said before the fight. I don't think i'm the only one who said these things.

Floyds fight with Judah was signed BEFORE Judah lost to Baldomir, they went through with it. Floyd beat the former champion, then went on and beat the champion.

Lots of people feel Cottos win over Judah was great. Because he "destroyed him".

Just because Mosley schooled Collazo, means nothing. Styles make fights. It took SRL 14 rounds to KO Hearns. It took Hagler 3.

No one thought much of Paul Williams until AFTER he beat Margo. Which the fight with Hatton was done and signed. Cotto and Mosley were set to fight before that as well. And Mosley is old. Beating him would only bring more cirtizsm for going after an old past his prime fighter. Also, Cotto's team has been wanting DLH. They dont even look Mayweathers way. How can Mayweather call him out, yet they dont want him, and why does the champion need to call out challengers. I tought it was the other way around?

The Judah contract was signed and Floyd went through with it. Hattons own father did not want the fight and stated they weren't ready for it.

Arum wanted to give Floyd less money for bigger threats if he was to fight Margo. Thats why Floyd bought out his contract to move on to bigger and better things.

Somone mentioned skillsets. A guy with Hattons more limited skill set of being a brawler cannot move upward divisions as well as somone with a great skill set (especially defensive) like Mayweather. Hatton has always been hit a lot more than Mayweather, so the punching power of the larger opponent is going to pile up a lot more damage on a guy like Hatton. Mayweather rarely gets hit cleanly so the harder punches that may cause damage are few and far between. Floyd may be able to survive and even win against some guys up to 175 lbs. but Hatton would end up getting KO'd very early, every time.

The jury is still out about Hatton being elite or not. His booze bender after the loss is not encouraging and regardless of the psychology of Hatton, his reckless weight Yo Yo will eventually take its toll on him, if not already. As somone else mentioned, take a look @ Duran. After he was KO'd by Hearns way worse than Hatton by PBF, Duran won another championship.

How can Floyd fight someone who doesn't want to fight him?

And he didn't lose the first fight with Castillo

    115-111 Floyd.

Floyds fight with Judah was signed BEFORE Judah lost to Baldomir, they went through with it. Floyd beat the former champion, then went on and beat the champion.

Floyd beat Zab, who had been demolished by Tzyu, and outboxed by Cory twice, and then went on to beat journeyman Baldomir.

Just because Mosley schooled Collazo, means nothing. Styles make fights. It took SRL 14 rounds to KO Hearns. It took Hagler 3.

But Floyd fighting Hatton, who was almost knocked out by Collazo and I thought lost, does mean something. He picks easy fights.

It took SRL 14 rounds to KO Hearns. It took Hagler 3.

Collazo ain't Sugar Ray Leonard or Marvin Hagler, and Hearns ain't Hatton.

Also, Cotto's team has been wanting DLH. They dont even look Mayweathers way. How can Mayweather call him out, yet they dont want him, and why does the champion need to call out challengers. I tought it was the other way around?

The guy keeps going into retireman that's why. He keeps coming out with ridiclious statements like I have nothing left to prove. If he wants to be remembered as who he thinks he is, the man who beats Leonard, who is better than Ali, and on par with Robinson, you bet your ass he has a lot to prove. He should clean out the welter division and then retire. Until he does that, I pay little attentiont to a guy who talks that much ****, and then fights Baldomir, Judah, and Hatton.
