Why so little undisputed in 2005-2016?

    As a reminder, since the recognition of the WBO around 2005, only Bernard Hopkins then Jermain Taylor who had beaten him had been undisputed champions. It took twelve years to see Crawford and Usyk do the same. And there for a few years it's been a festival: Taylor, Canelo, Charlo, Haney...

    Where do you think this change comes from?

    Absolutely boxing politics!
    And many of the big names back then that had the pull themselves to make it happen, didn't seem to want to take the risk.

    Seems like that era was an all time low for cooperation between promoters. I think that decreased interest in boxing in the u.s., COVID, ODLH losing Canelo, and Arum and haymond starting to cooperate better has made undisputed an easier prospect.

    Because that was the worse era in boxing.
