Why so many people criticized PBF for fighting Oscar in 2007 but....

I'm with you on the latter. I did not have that much of a problem with DLH/Mayweather in 2007. It was an enormous fight and even though most expected Mayweather to take it in a dull affair, it still had an appeal. The execution, i.e., the undercard and the actual fight, certainly was subpar, but oh well. I was only against rehashing a fight that did not warrant it. I feel the split decision argument was ridiculous, too. Tom Kaczmarek's awful scoring does not entail any rights to a second go 'round.

 

I had no problem with Floyd/Oscar I. That was fine for me because it was a massive leap up in class from Baldomir and Judah for Floyd and also had some intrigue because Oscar has power and Floyd was moving up in weight to clash with Oscar. To me that was a fine contest.

It was II that I had an issue with for a myriad of reasons.

Honestly, I don't WANT Oscar to face the Cotto/Margo winner but for Cotto, if he beats Antonio, there isn't much else. Fights with Clottey and Williams are there but I don't think either one would possess much threat to him right now. Not to mention Cotto is still young and isn't talking retirement...so there will be time.

Margarito has to find a way to rematch Paul Williams before he does anything else post-Cotto.

 

They just don't like him...plain and simple.

 

I didn't have a problem with Floyd's fights in 2007.

What I do have a problem with is if Mayweather and Cotto never fight.

 

He boxed his ears off...not even close.
Watch the fight with your eyes and not your heart...see the difference.

 

Man...and add to the fact that Oscar made all the stipulations...ring size and gloves to favor himself and still got smashed.

 

Mosely is good...balco assisted maybe...ha. But not Floyd great...Shane has been dominated and outboxed before. Can't say that about May.

 

Mosley is more physically gifted/talented than Mayweather.

Mayweather is more crafty and technically skilled than Mosley.

 

But...I agree on not wanting to see the fight...I'd rather see The winner fight PW

First of all, who is saying it wasn't a " notable" win for PBF, DLH is the biggest name on PBF's resume!

DLH is again looking to fight the best opponents out there(Margo/Cotto), something that was asked of your boy and he FAILED at miserably!

 

I think this is the most honest and best possible answer.

 

I think the Zab Floyd fought was a bit more dangerous than the one Cotto fought. Sure, he had been blitzed by Tszu, but his skills were pretty much all there.

 

A lot of people say that the win wasn't notable calling up on Oscars age...and when has Margo ever been the toughest oppent for Floyd. Cotto could be made a case for, but Cotto was never ducked by Floyd. Cotto don't even want Floyd.

 

Zab looked less confident against Cotto.

Against Mayweather, Zab lost his confidence when he started gettign beat up and then went Golota on Floyd.

Against Cotto, Zab was already flopping on the floor in a round he was doing very well, after a borderline low blow. The 3rd round low blow was indeed vicious, however I think he was hamming it in round 1.

 

Add to the fact that Zab had been inactive also...
