Crawford is #1 at welterweigh and this whole issue of people not giving him credit will end when he beats Porter.
I don't hate him, I hate that he can be P4P top 5 with Postol being his best win, definitely not the shell of Kell or the ghost of Khan. He is 34 and his resume is poor... When all is said and done if he beats Porter that could be his career defining victory and it's not enough of a legacy to leave.
Seriously ?? I find Crawford to be modest and friendly guy despite of his elite status. I don't meet many people who dislike him. Even Loma respect and get along with him. Maybe you mistaken him to Deontay Wilder...LOL
Undefeated black American. Those are three big reasons. That said, i dont root for him! Ultimately it is just easy to root against guys that are on top. I rally against hype and while he has gotten much more hate than hype recently, he got a bit overhyped early on, pre-title even.
I think there is a big difference between hating someone and being sceptical of their recent resume and - for whatever reasons - not fighting the big fights. On the contrary I LIKE Bud - great fighter, but he has stagnated since coming up to 147, and his resume there is thin for someone touted as P4P top 3. Possibly due to his level of comp, Crawford has never really needed to get out of 2nd gear, and hasn't had that special fight where he has been taken into deep waters, shown adversity and came out on top that ALL great fighters have when they fight the best. Not having fought Thurman, Pac, Ugas, Danny Garcia, Porter and especially Spence is not a good look. Maybe Bud really is just THAT good, but I expect Porter to show us a lot about how good Crawford really is. May the best man win!
People are already complaining that Porter isn't a good enough name, which obviously makes no sense, but hey... Whatevs. I imagine if he beats Porter, especially with authority, he'll fight Spence next year.
I think it's simply a case of him talking big but failing to secure the fights at welter that people want to see. If you claim to be the best welter in the world then it shouldn't take you 3 years at welter to fight a top welterweight like Porter. Hopefully the Porter fight will show his critics he's as good as he says he is and I think he is.
I like Crawford, the reason for the hate though is his level of hubris while not having accomplished all that much. His resume is lacking severely
