Honestly are people here for real, are any of you real boxers. Not talking about regular fans or people just curious about the sport and doing it as a hobby. And im not talking about simple questions like what has worked for you or how was your experience on this or that.

But there are a bunch of questions about how to fight tall fighters, or how to fight backwards, how to do this. Come on if you are a real boxer you should be asking those questions to your boxing coach and trainer. Somebody that knows you and your ability. Not coming to an internet forum to try and learn how to do things. If i ever went to my gym telling my coach hey some guy in the internet told me to do it this way what do you think coach. He wouldve kicked me out right there, a lot of times i think some people here are boxers in fantasy land only.

I ask a few questions, just to see what other people think about certain situations. Also helps that I am on deployment in the middle east, so I am a couple thousand miles away from my boxing gym, and don't have the convieniance of asking my coach questions that I normally would when I am stateside. But I am guessing you are another one of those guys who knows absolutely everything about the world on this forum huh?

Well you dont count anyways since by saying you are on deployment i doubt you are a serious boxer anyways. You are one of those weekend warriors that do it for the fun and to say they did it so i wasnt referring to you.

and let me guess you are Miguel Cotto...no Macho Camacho....no ummmm just because I am on deployment does not mean I don't take boxing seriously. Steve Cunningham was in the military, and actually served on the base I am stationed on. While I may not be the next Evander Holyfield, or Bernard Hopkins I am training hard to make the All-Navy Boxing team, and to win the Golden Gloves in March.

Maybe its called researching opinion. Do you think your trainer was born with a boxing manual glued to his umbilical cord? He gained knowledge one way, people here gain knowledge this way. Its not that hard to work out.

Agreed. There are such a multitude of reasons the original post is stupid it's not even funny. We don't all have the priviledge of working out 1 to 1 with Freddie Roach every day, and I doubt I'm alone in saying that often I'll have an entire workout without a great deal of help or advice from a coach.

Aside from anything else, even the best trainers have completely different standpoints on every aspect of training like roadwork, weight lifting, types of workouts that are useful and so on.

    Don't be narrow minded.

I used to ask myself the same question until I went to a boxing gym. A coach is there to guide you in a particular way and will teach you according to what he thinks is important. You can always ask questions, but there are little things and general questions with many types of answers that he's not always going to have time to answer and walk you through, especially when it may not seem as relevant to the program he's implementing. After our 1-2 hour session, I can't always go up to him and say "can you show me every possible counter for a single jab?" But I can ask it here and get all sorts of answers.

Plus, if you want to do well, extra research and practice is required.

I assume your talking about my thread about a tall agressive fighter. The reason i asked it and probably people ask other questions is because:
A, There are knowledgable people on the forum with years experience such as brown bomber who can give you advice your trainer didn't give to you or forgot to mention.
B, I asked about fights to study to see it happen and to study the vids etc.

Trust me if you don't ask questions you won't be a good fighter. Why leave yourself completely at the mercy of someone elses knowledge - or lack of it.

Just messing with you i was in the army also and while deployed i found this stupid website and used it a lot to entertain myself but people have to be careful what they take as fact around the internet... especially when you dont know the person that's giving you the advice credentials.... by the way i won 2006 armed forces europe welterweight championship.. my avatar was one of the preliminary fights... people hated me cause i always fought with an all PR flag trunks and shirt...

It's known as asking for an opinion. People have different opinions on different things (strange ah?). People come here and ask for opinions on things such as what you listed in your first post. Just because somebody suggests something different it doesn't mean they're going to go running to their coach and say "xxxx said this, you're wrong! I'm doing it this way from now on!" Asking questions or for opinions is a good way of learning, try it some time.

BTW, any coach that would kick you out of a club for asking questions is a *****. Also, you're going to have to define a "real boxer". 90% of people, including pros do boxing as a hobby as it's in their spare time when they're not at their day job. I'm guessing you mean a real boxer being somebody who only boxes and makes a good living out of it. I doubt there any many if any that support themselves purely off boxing on this forum, including yourself. So I guess you're not a real boxer...
