if there are a lot of threads about wlad its probably because he's the recognised heavyweight champ, and unlike pacquaio he isn't universally adored by everyone- so it creates discussion.

    haha :D

also... what are the alternatives? i can see why some people would like to see haye as the man in the division, but not many other eastern europeans are going to be as media friendly as wlad. fair enough, he might seem boring at times to a neutral but be grateful the K bros are around so we aren't left with someone like valuev. american fight fans should be grateful he cares at all what you guys think of him, it would be a lot worse if a russian came along who didnt give a **** about the US media and fight fans

better to have a good fighter at the top of the division dominating than a situation where the belts change hands every two fights amongst a group of semi talented fighters like ruiz and byrd a few years ago

The real question is, why do so many people hate him as if he just raped a child ? Bad example, if he would, the wannabe gangstas would call him great.

He wins 95% of his fights in flawless fashion, no slightest need for help by judges. You don't like his style, fine. But why hate like a 14 years old schoolboy hating the 17 y/o guy doing the prom queen ? I don't like Bernard Hopkins as person too, but when I see him flawlessly performing vs. Pavlik, I can applaude him nevertheless.

I was a huge fan of Lewis & I'm a huge fan of Wladimir. I know what you mean about Americans not liking Lewis but I was sold after LL's destruction of Razor Ruddock.

If it wasn't for Haye, the tickets wouldn't of been sold as fast. Wlad is a household name in Germany, certainly not anywhere else.:deal

The hate is getting positively laughable. 60% of people on the general board think that the objective of boxing is to get hit in the face a lot in order to "put on an exciting fight".

Exactly. These idiots would have you believe that Wlad vs. Ibrag was as bad or boring as Byrd vs. TOS.

They just want to see Wladimir lose, which won't happen again & it pisses them off.

its such a pity boxing is no longer in a 'golden age' where all the good fighters are american. what a shame that boxing is no longer like american football and baseball where the 'best in the world' is always guaranteed to be a US team :rofl

You said it in your post, "Overmatched" being the key word here. That would be like putting your boy Kobe in a one on one game against top college standout Tyler Hansburrough, and expecting him to stop Kobe when goes through the lane. 2 things would happen, one Kobe dunks on the goofy looking white dude, two, Tyler gets called for a blocking foul.

As far as Wlad's popularity goes outside of Germany, go to your local bar and ask who the heavyweight champ of the world is. I am so sure that most guys in their 20's and 30's would name the UFC champ before they would name the boxing champ, I would leave ESB for good if I was wrong.

I have the utmost respect for Wlad.
Just cannot stand some of his more psychotic fans.
They do him more harm than good and bring a lot of hate towards the champ.
