Why so much people expected a KO win from Ward, he's not a power-puncher

Brand was a good fight preparation for Kova's style and going 12 rounds did more for Ward than a K.O win would've done. I see Ward outmaneuvering and frustrate Kova, since Kova is more of a straightforward fighter.:good

Because, for a lot of people on here, power is the only thing that matters in boxing.

Most in Kirk's league had Ward UD actually. But with the difference in class and size some expected Ward to stop him despite his style and power.

Ward is beyond feather fisted - I suspect he is feather jawed and his boxing skills are not even all that. He is very predictable. Look at how much respect and how reactive Ward was to the 39 year old nobodies feints.

Kovalev is an infinitely better boxer than that guy and hits harder than anyone. I think Kovalev would give Ward a hell of a fight without any power. With power Kovalev is going to bludgeon Ward.

And then people are going to say that Kovalev is one of the greatest of all time. He may be, but it won't be because of him beating down Ward. Ward is overrated and he is going to be shown up if he shows up in November.

 No. After Chilemba I was worried but Chilemba > Brand by a long way, and Kovalev is going to be too much for Ward when they meet. :deal Sergei has a good chin and isn't going to be bothered by Ward.

Ward won't stand there in the ring waiting to get hit by Kova. Ward is very good at neutralising the jab and that's the key to win vs Kova. Kova has a good jab that settles his power right hand.

If Kovalev had no power, or even average power, he would get outboxed easily by Ward.

Kovalev has skills. He isn't just some hard hitting brawler. However, what helps him look more technically skilled than he is is the effect his power has on the fighting style of his opponents. His opponents act scared, rather than weary, of his power and fight incredibly negatively, often just pot shorting from the outside. If Kovalev did not have the immense power he has then his opponents would fight more in their natural style, taking more risks and therefore making Kovalev not look as technically profficient as he does now.

Still hard to gauge where Wards at I mean he fought nobody world class since Dawson 5 years ago

He struggled to punch in combination and isn't as physical inside. I think Kovalev stops him

It's not remotely outrageous to have predicted a late accumulation/corner/strange-ref-TKO in favor of Ward going into this fight.

Can Ward neutralize Kovalev like he did to Froch? Froch is a bit similar to Kovalev
