Let's see... We are expecting for Cotto to fight Margo in June 2009. If this is so, I believe we should all see a match of Cotto vs Clottley and Margo vs SSM in early 2009. I mean, let's be honest, Gomez wasn't the best fight for Cotto to prepare himself against Margo. Therefore, a preliminary fight between Cotto vs Clottley would be golden in the preparation for Cotto to face Margo in next summer as well as SSM is a great preparation fight for Margo. Discuss!
I doubt Cotto can hurt Clottey, not to mention Clottey is a solid puncher. I see a very high possibility of Clottey taking this.
Clottey has a never good defense and a good chin, but he's a little to tentative to throw shots sometimes. Based on Cotto's composite punching skills and body attack I give him a points win.
clottey could beat cotto, especially after seeing how shane struggled against mayorga, that shows that in cotto's last 3 fights he beat gomez and mosley which tells us nothing and lost to margo, cotto is struggling imo
I also think this would be some good match ups - however - I don't think there's enough Network money to make this a one card show. Very interesting. Would like to see how this plays out.
Cotto vs Clottey would be a good fight. Cotto by close ud. Margarito vs. Mosley: Margarito by way of ko demolition.
That argument doesn't work in any form. The A beat B while B struggles means C is better than A stuff is just garbage to say the least. That's why people think David Diaz is some sort of golden god around here. It entirely depends on how Cotto bounces back after his loss to Margarito. If he comes back like he did before the Margo fight, he wins this easily. Clottey is too inactive and suspect stamina wise, which plays into Cotto's hands allowing him to pile up points early on and then box his way to a sound decision. Margo-Shane would be a fun fight but really at this point, Mosley should be looking at guys like Berto on the lower end of the WW spectrum.
