Some crimes are unforgivable no matter how much time is done to atone for it. Fact is what Stevenson did shows a complete lack of humanity. He treated women as objects, used them to satisfy his own greed, used violence to control them and kept them against their will. He was basically a modern day slaver, owning and selling flesh. Anybody supporting Stevenson is either ignorant of his wrong doing or simply lacks the human empathy to fully comprehend what he did that was so wrong. Personally I cannot understand how anyone could support him as a fighter.
Monzon, LaMotta...the list goes on. Not such nice people exist in boxing. Get over it. We watch them for what they do in the ring. Nobody here is going to be trying to set a female family member up with him. Move on.
1. He is annoying to listen to. 2. He is ducking Kovalev. 3. He puts on annoying/disturbing antics when he knocks somebody out. 4. He has a glass jaw and has been knocked out by Darnell Boone. 5. He has a lot of money and fame despite being a violent/***ual criminal. 6. Networks mention his time in prison (to build credibility) and never say what it was for. People do MUCH longer sentences for victimless crimes (drugs, etc.) and are looked at as shitbags for the rest of their lives. He committed sociopathic acts which should have seen him put away for a long time, did only 1.5 years, and now the world goes on and allows him to make money off it. To go anywhere in boxing you need support from promoters, managers, networks, etc. Clearly he has that in spite of what he's done. The guy was not that great of a fighter and has still gotten all kinds of opportunities. And don't even get me started on his skin color!!!!
Yes, I know about the gun, and that OJ brandished it. Yes, I know he was using his extorters to hide income from the Goldmanns. I know he was guilty of those charges, but the punishment was far more severe in his case because of the supposed botched trial in LA.nono:nono
Nonsense. Go look up some of the old threads on here. Afterwards, if you think you're still right, come back and then we'll chat.
There is no doubt there have been, and remain, bigotry and bias toward black people. These are 2 of the worst examples I've ever seen. Put your focus on issues where you have a leg to stand on. There are plenty of them still around. This just makes you sound like you have no idea what you are talking about.
Why this guy chose to raise race as an issue in this discussion is hard to understand. Though I may know Stevenson's race, I have no idea what race the victims were. Race doesn't matter, as far as I am concerned.
Maybe Stevenson being black is the reason for some people to hate him, probably not the majority. I don't know him personally (like most of you all don't know him personally), so I can't attest to him being a changed man. All I know about him is his past crimes, which leads me to think less of him. That's really all I, and many others, have to go on. It's like, if someone described a guy that beat up women and forced them into ***ual slavery, most people's reaction would be: wow, what an *******. Which is, you know, how most people feel about Stevenson.
even in spite of what he's done?? as a fighter, he's very good. but the same cowardly actions he used all those years ago are the same cowardly actions he uses when dodging Kovalev. we call them bullies where i'm from.
