  4. All they need is to tighten the ropes, its way too loose.

Perhaps they need to need to change the ropes into a criss cross X type pattern and maybe make it about 6 ft tall so the fighters do not fit through it

The Cage was never about fighters safety. It was only about marketing the early UFC's as extreme fighting of which the cage served a purpose to make it look as hardcore as possible. Myself personally i prefer the ring. No wall and stall. Alot less LnP. And the ring allows for better execution of martial art techniques. As opposed to the cage which encourages LnP tactics.

UFC should adopt the "Pride the Best" octagon ring ...it was so ahead of it's time, we weren't quite ready for it :yep.

That's true, I think it was chosen with grapplers, namely Royce in this case in mind.

Obviously a grappler cant get trapped in a corner by a striker in a cage and it presents a better opportunity to pull guard with your back to the cage. The early UFC were basically a Gracie JJ showcase. Was it UFC 2 when they were doing the intro of the rules they said they had complaints that the Octagon surface in UFC 1 had favoured the grapplers due to it being soft.

But both have their good and bad points, and we could argue that the ring favours strikers unfairly and go round and round and never reach a conclusion as too which is truely the best, just point out our personal preferances. But the Cage is now part of the image of MMA and one of it's selling points.

Somebody should break apart from the pattern and go back to the ring as they did in Pride

Personally i think the ring favoured more action. If you take PRIDE as an example coupled with their rule set you didn't often get matches that featured lots of stalling. It just wasn't the done thing in Japan either.
Id take the ring over the cage every day of the week. It just makes the sport more legitimate for me.
