Well I think PRIDE obviously wasnt a wrestler heavy roster, other than the American guys like Coleman and Kerr ect, and the PRIDE rule set allowed more opportunities to finish the fight with knees, so yes I think it allowed more exciting fights.

But I dont think lay and pray and stalling is exclusively an enviroment factor. For me it's your good ole fashioned style v style thing. Wrestler are better suited to the cage, and use it to, their advantage, but I think it's up to the ref to make sure he understands when a fighter is stalling.
I think Morono's point is if all MMA was in a ring it would eradicate the L'n'P problem. It's not that simple

PRIDE didn't have that problem because the rules plus yellow and red card infractions didn't allow it. Personally i think wrestlers had the greatest advantage in PRIDE because of knee's to a downed opponent. Can you imagine how devastating Matt Hughes would have been in a PRIDE ring with knee's added to his arsenal?
There's no way - all things being equal - that Coleman would have beaten Vovchancyn if knee's were not allowed and Vovchancyn wasn't coming off two of the most gruelling bouts in the 2000 GP vs Goodridge and Sakuraba.

But the PRIDE rule set never will be adopted in Europe and the American continent now it's predominantly UFC territory

Absolutely. Which is a shame. They still use a similar rule set in Brazil and some small hall show promotions across Russia. But it's as good as dead. The unified rules have put paid to that.

i think it helps show the difference between the two sports now which will helps MMAs legitimacy as a sport in its own right rather than an offshoot of boxing. It becomes an equal rather than a mutant competitor.

Incorrect. While it wasn't devised entirely with the safety of the fighters in mind, to say that wasn't in the thought process is just absurd.

Incorrect. It was a practical choice.

    Incorrect.

Incorrect. If you said a bit less then you might be technically correct but otherwise wrong.

This is woefully ignorant and downright ******ed.

Actually style and a shitty scoring system encourages that. Excellent misattribution, though... I haven't seen anyone **** that up that badly... ever.

I would like to see PRIDE's rules inside the cage. Mostly no elbows nor headbutts. Not everyone ends fights, like Jon Jones, with the elbow. It often just cuts fighters, stops fights due to cuts, and leaves the fighters more susceptible to easier to open scar tissue on the face.

Headbutts also damage fighters facial tissue, and makes them more prone to cuts. I think mma fighters bare enough risks as it is. I think the sport owes the participants a little bit in terms of careers lengths.

I didn't really like the use of the yellow, because the fighters are probably basing their camps on full earnings. I'd rather the organizations implement a finished inside the distance bonus. I would like to see if a finishing bonus would cause fighters to take more chances.

I'm also in favor of kneeing grounded opponensts, because that can end a fight quickly; making them more humane than elbows and headbutts.

Lets be honest, MMA fighting in a ring with ropes is at least mildly ******ed.

Sure it is. Probably explains PRIDE hugely successful 10 years too. Good job you were not an advisor to Mr Takada....
