I am not sure he is underrated most seem to rate him highly and fairly. I am sure there are a few that either don’t know much about him and/or don’t value him. But for the most part he seems highly thought of.

 

Pretty obvious. All the fans familiar with him (and who appreciated him) have passed on. That and the lack of footage/quality footage.
Sad but true.

 

We have enough footage of Walker to know how good he was.

 

He was good little fighter, a crafty plugger, tough as nails... good for his time. And the judges liked him.

 

He was crap. Total and utter crap

 

Not really. Yes we do have several of his fights on film. But his fights with Sharkey and Schmeling, though interesting, are not an accurate representative of the REAL Mickey Walker.

 

I have always liked Walker tbh. I liked him in the footage, although most of it is not prime Walker. I have read up on him quite a bit though, and hold him to be a top 25 ATG p4p. He was a great welterweight, a great middleweight, and a great light heavyweight, and even a decent heavyweight. I have the utmost respect for Walker.

 

Tiger Flowers got jobbed against Walker and was arguably a better middleweight.

 

He was good for any time!
