Why the consensus that Alvarez beats Angulo?

I thought this was more of a pick em fight? Angulo showed a lot against Lara. Lara is a much better/more athletic fighter than Alvarez. He dominated Trout, while Alvarez had a much closer fight.

I think Angulo wins this. Alvarez may have learned a lot from the Floyd fight, but those lessons aren't gonna be applicable to Angulo. Angulo is an expert at making the ring small, and Alvarez will be happy to engage in spots.

I see Alvarez using much the same strategy that Lara used: Circle, step in with a combo, get out, repeat. The difference is that Alvarez is slower and will be easier for Angulo to catch, though he might be harder to hurt.

I don't see any way in which Alvarez is better than Lara, and he really employs a similar fight strategy. Angulo will also have the kind of size advantage that Alvarez isn't accustomed to.

I won't say Alvarez can't win, but all signs point toward Angulo imo. Should be a great fight too. I see it going the distance and Angulo winning 8-4.

Alvarez has the much better skills, Angulo can punch hard, it bigger, but he always finds a way to lose..............

I don't see how Angulo did much against Lara other than knock him down... I mean every second Lara wasn't knocked (which was only twice) Angulo was getting outboxed with ease

That being said, Canelo doesn't have Lara's boxing skill. I always thought it was a pick'm fight... And an Angulo victory/demolition wouldn't shock me at all

Canelo has more skills though, faster hands, and some very solid power... So it'll be interesting

I agree with you. Canelo shows good power against junior welterweights but it seems most people think he's gonna blast Angulo out of there with ease and I don't get it. Canelo will be right in front of Angulo, he doesn't move his feet like Lara does so Angulo won't have to chase him all night.

After watching one of Angulo's latest interviews, I'm more convinced that Canelo will beat him.

Apparently, he was considering retiring after his loss to Lara, and he took this fight because of his fans who were sending him letters and stuff.

This makes me think his heart isn't on this anymore and probably took some lasting damage in the Lara fight, when Lara disfigured him. Canelo on the other hand looks as motivated as ever, and truth is, he's way more skilled than Angulo and has the edge on speed

They're probably around even in power and chin, Angulo's only big advantage is his stamina, my prediction is Canelo will outbox this guy with ease

becaise hes not on Canelos level. angulo is simply not that good. the biggest thing he showed in the lara fight is that he could quit. he has no shot to win this fight and i dont even like canelo. ive found myself defending him this week becauae aparently most of you have lost your minds. Angulos getting stopped.

Primarily because he's never beaten a decent JMW and he's coming off an injury. Canelo's also the better fighter overall and is capable of countering as well as working behind the jab and stalking.

Angulo is just too slow for a top boxer.

This is going to be a tough fight. Alvarez having difficulty making weight is definitely a sign that Angulo has a better shot in this fight.

Yeah I'd probably have to agree with your assessment here. The weight is definitely something to consider, though his overall ability is still a level about Angulo's.

This should be a good chin test for Canelo

I see it as a pikdm 50/50 fight in round 1.
But as the rounds progress 60/40....70/30...and so on favoring alvarez.
Angulos only shot is early 4-6 rnd stoppage.

Cant see him winning a decision too slow/ no real outside skill other than cutting the ring off. & is about on par to gas as fast as alvarez if not faster...oh and nelo is the nee golden boy.....the fix is in...no way alfredo gets decision.
