I don't have to prove **** to you. everyone else in the thread knows it too except you and poofy who are in denial just cause you hate Oscar
The Vernon Forrest issue is more complex than just "Oscar turned him down " :deal , theres more to it than that , i believe Oscar refused to fight Winky Wright twice , and then preceded to make it near on impossible to make the fight after Winky constantly bad mouthed him , a bit like Hatton Witter Both issue's have history and lots of it (DLH Winky & Forrest DLH) , if you know the facts its a matter of making your own mind up on just who wasn't keen on the fight , and I've made mine up
This is exactly what I'm talking about , nit picking , picking holes in the argument , what ever it is you wanna call it , the Winky Oscar saga dragged out , having Winky believing he was worth more than they wanted to offer him compared to De La Hoya's split , it is what it is i suppose but i kind of agree with the guy , what ever .............. by the time Winky starts to realise he aint the attraction he thinks he is (not a black mark against his name as a fighter there :deal , just as an attraction) he goes back to Oscar , Oscar doesn't want to know , i mean i just like to keep it simple , looking over all the facts , the small and large details i believe De La Hoya just didn't want the fight , was it his fault the deal broke down ?? not necessarily , did he want to fight Winky ?? i don't believe he did , my opinion !!
Oscar offered Wright TRIPLE his highest payday, and some how this is Oscar not wanting the fight? :blood You like to keep it simple yet you're making it as difficult as ****ing possible
Yes but your clearly blinded by a love for De La Hoya , Winky believed he was headed to the stratosphere of boxing royalty , which if were talking ability wise he probably was , Oscar was boxing royalty in terms of generating numbers , plenty of fighters before and afterwards have made this mistake (Winky) , not long after Winky knew the De La Hoya offer was imbalanced but still a good offer De La Hoya didn't want to know and virtually nothing had changed in that time , De La Hoya then remained firm on that for the duration of the next 2 years , without making much comment on the issue Look , you can argue this all night long , like some subjects in boxing its matter of gathering the facts and drawing an opinion , i believe De La Hoya took his " OUT " with both hands when Winky priced himself out , again , my opinion
As I recall, Winky was preaticallly begging for a fight for a couple years, only to turn down something like, $5mill.As a huge Winky fan, he's made some questionable decisions. Turned down a good paying rematch to Taylor as well (againm, if memory serves).
Shaw was even telling Wink to do it, but Wink said no, turned down 6 mill. I was a HUGE Wright fan until he did that, here is an article. "As for Shaw last month turning down $6-million (plus $6 per pay-per-view buy above 600,000 homes) to fight - "He offers everyone else $10 million" Wright said, referring to the $10-million Felix Trinidad got for beating De La Hoya in 1999. "I ain't doing it." http://www.sptimes.com/2005/07/26/Sp...weather_.shtml Dude turned down 6M dollars atsch
Oscar never really ducked anyone . . . No one wanted to fight the viper or winky though until SSM did it got his ass handed to him ( i still think SSM was too small for those guys and should have moved back down to say 140 after fighting Oscar but that is another story). That being said Winky always thought he was worth a whole lot more than he really was. ALso, the Viper got beatdown by a mad man on a mission 2x . . . but hey styles makes fights.
