Why the Excessive Support for Terence Crawford RIGHT NOW?

He's no.6 on the P4P list and is highly lauded everywhere.

His resume is extremely mediocre to date. 135lb version of Gamboa is very underwhelming, especially considering Gamboa is much too small for the weight. Gamboa was having more success than he should have. Ricky Burns had more success than he should have, too. Terence Crawford at 135lbs actually sounds like a joke, he's much too big.

Just to be clear, I think Terence Crawford has shown improvement, enough for me to think he's a very good fighter. But he hasn't even fought anybody yet.

Crawford would put his name on the map if he beats Postol (providing Postol goes on to have a successful career, unless Postol's soul has been completely taken away by Crawford).

why does it have to be excessive? why cant someone just believe he is good enough to be great? i think youre asking why the demographic doesnt support ggg like they do crawford. any adult knows why.
i think they are both great talents.

GGG was born in the USSR and can't speak English well, whereas Crawford is your typical American boxer.

Excessive? I'd say he's been fairly slept on thus far. He looks a real talent yet most people have never heard of him. Meanwhile the likes of Broner... well you know...

    1. Being ranked sixth on P4P lists and being highly lauded is enough for you to make a thread questioning why...

    2. You question why Golovkin is hated on yet Crawford praised...

    3. And you have your answer to that bolded red question with your own statement; "But he hasn't even fought anybody yet."

    All things are relative.

I too generally see Crawford being slightly overrated in the P4P sense over the last good year or so.

Excellent post. Guys like Broner, Wilder, Badou Jack get more support from pro-American fans yet Crawford is a better fighter than them by far.

Maybe because Crawford is promoted by Top Rank? :think So he is at the same situation as Bradley?

Crawford is 28 has had only 28 fights has moved up in weight won titles at both weights and already has a resume better than GGG. Crawford dares to be great while GGG who's even older with more fights doesn't.

Anyone using the term demographic needs to grow a set and use the word they really mean.

I'll touch your points individually and clearly, and we'll compare to Golovkin since you did.

    1. Resume: That's fair. His resume isn't that impressive; relative to Golovkin's though, it's not much worse. Postol is a huge step up.

    2. 135 Gamboa: Again, that's a fair opinion as well. But it wasn't Gamboa being slow or fat at 135, it was more of Crawford being bigger.

    3. Gamboa and Burns success early: Crawford is a slow starter, end of story.

    4. Crawford at 135: He could make weight, now he can't, so what's the problem? He's growing, he's young.

    5. Hate Golovkin, revere Crawford: Golovkin is actually MORE popular and MORE praised than Crawford.

    6. Crawford beating Postol: Would be extremely impressive... People claimed Garcia ducked Postol and that Crawford would too. Can't flip it now that the fight is official and downplay this match. Crawford is not too big for 140, Postol is bigger than him lol.

Broner doesn't get more support, he's more infamous. Crawford gets more support than Jack IMO. And Wilder... he gets a lot of 'attention'.

    :deal

    damn pansies.

    Isn't Dougie black?

So calling out the black supremacist boxing "fans" who hate every European fighter, hate Top Rank and Golden Boy because Arum and De La Hoya are not black, hate their fighters and HBO too because they fight on that television network is racist? When a black person calls them out? Unbelievable.

**** no he's not. And he couldn't not keep it real in his article if he wanted to be fair he would have called out guys who blamed Wilder for Povetkin failing the drug test but he didn't he's full of **** and has an agenda. Not only that he called for PBF to move up time after time and dare to be great but doesn't do that for GGG he has double standards is bitter with an axe to grind **** him.
