I read once that Joe Louis and Max Baer only both wanted to really hurt one opponent they fought, and his name was Tony Galento.

I was talking about his amateur career. In pro boxing, he never tried to outbox anyone.

I'm not interested in his amateur career.
As a pro ,bang in his prime, he was embarrassed and beat up by much smaller guys.

True, because he was journeymen for most of his career and had a brief moment when he reached high level. His peak was short, but dangerous.

I never said that he was a good fighter throughout his whole career, my point was more about him being better boxer than some believe based on footage from Baer and Louis fights. He could box, he didn't like doing so and prefered wild brawls. I'm sure a lot of amateur boxers say that they would destroy Galento based on watching him, but I'm sure most would be shocked.
