Not especially. Theres been a few times over the years where boxers have posted on here and a few people have forgotten how to behave themselves.
Dunno if ya can see this but heres a pic of Curtis Woodhouse after he finished all his sparring and roadwork leading up to the Miles bout. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151002471930972&set=p.10151002471930972&type=1&theater
Billy Nelson is cool. Down to earth, gives as good as he gets, and the "get it up yer" never get's old. He is more of a "general forum" sort of poster, but it's good to have characters here. Hope he keeps posting. As for Bunce, the reason he got pulled up a lot is because he's always, always claimed to be different to everyone else. He's always claimed to "tell it like it is". That was supposed to be his unique selling point and he constantly reminded us of it. That's why he got pulled up more. Yeah, Glenn Mcrory and Johnny Nelson might be company men too, but they just got on with their job instead of claiming to be anything but, or taking little digs at their competitors, and they are far more subtle when busting out the company line. The personal abuse was unnecessary, but this was a very small minority. Most who pulled Bunce up, criticised his work, and didn't get personal. It was the hypocrisy that people didn't like, not him being a company man. and no, him not posting here makes no difference to the forum. The only time he posted was to either promote his radio/tv shows or to defend himself from criticism. Did you see him in slip's all things technical thread? Did you see him posting on who would win between Pac/Marquez? Did you see him in the lounge voting who is sexier between Beyonce and Rihanna? This isn't a criticism btw, just an observation. He has every right to post on what he wants, but let's not pretend that him leaving is a big loss to the forum. It would make more of an impact if Billy Nelson or Jeff Thomas stopped posting, as they are the only two pros who are regulars on this forum and act just like "normal" posters. To a lesser extent, Curtis Woodhouse too. Yeah, there are certain idiots who'll get personal and abuse people who post here, just because they're famous. Then there are idiots who have the ass licking complex who believe that we are "lucky and privileged" to have celebrities posting here and shouldn't criticise them at all. Both are equally as ******ed. Bunce not posting here is a shame, but the banning of some of the old brit forum regulars has had far more of an impact. Bunce never reacted well to criticism, regardless of whether it was personal or not. Billy Nelson has the right idea and doesn't take things too seriously.
Yeah Ero, its a fine line but theres no excuse for being rude to someone just because they are "famous". Fair enough if someone is rude to everyone including famous people!
Come on... What was he meant to do? Criticise BoxNation when he thought it was a good thing? Just because he didn't parrot the views of posters on here doesn't mean he was being dishonest. Nelson and McCrory never abandon the party line, because they never have anything of value to say - like almost all of Sky's pundits. Sky's broadcast team are utterly dreadful. Not how I remember it - all I remember was the constant baiting and complaining because Bunce wouldn't mindlessly agree with people. This was most personified by Rob Palmer, who's a notorious ****wit around Bunce. Where was the hypocrisy? Not agreeing with what the posters on ESB said? And bollocks was it criticism of his work. Bunce is one of the best journalists out there for boxing, far superior to shills like Borges. Not agreeing with what Bunce believes is not automatically the same as him being a hypocrite.
Rob also went a bit OTT on Willie Limond a while back. Limond was fighting for the spurious WBU title and Rob was like a Jack Russell with a rabbit taking him to task over multiple belts in boxing. Fair enough it was a bull**** title but Willie Limond wasn't to blame for the whole ****ed in system in boxing, he was just trying to put a few more bums on seats and earn a few quid by pinning a "world title" onto his fight.
