Why the hell are people so big on that idiot Wilder right now?

Ive noticed on these forums that fighters with great power tend to get overrated. Particulalry when they are either past their prime or retired. Names like David Tua, Tommy Morrison, and Earnie Shavers have all become head to head monsters when there really isnt any evidence to suggest this.

What nut huggery? Most boxing fans find either very annoying, unskilled. Or both most likely.

I don't think it had anything to do with Fury's retirement but of course fans of fighters will often defend their opponents. The ironic thing is that Wilder's own fanbase threw him under the bus after he lost to Fury, which partly explains why Anderson was getting so much hype.

The reverse is true of fans of other fighters. Lewis and Wlad fans for example often hate on Wilder because they want to sh*t on the present, and because they know that Wilder is a threat to anyone, especially those who get chinned by B/C level opponents like McCall, Sanders, Ruiz etc.

Most of it is Fury's cult, hoping Wilder actually accomplishes his first good win, to puff up Fury's sad resume.

His power is not overrated. His record is.

Joshua definitely has a much better resume. No doubt about that.

There's just not a lot of good heavyweights right now. We know he's worse than Fury and better than Ortiz. Going off common opponents he's probably better than Whyte and Ruiz level guys. AJ has the much deeper resume and better skill but I'd probably still pick Wilder to KO him and I'm really not that "big" on Wilder at all.

NOBODY beats a prime Wilder. Certainly not AJ.

Showed a tremendous amount of heart against Fury. Looked out on his feet yet managed to knock him down twice.

Wanker of a man but an absolute warrior in the ring. I'll judge him on the latter. I become an instant fan of fighters that show an incredible amount of heart. And it has nothing to do with bigging up Tyson Fury, none whatsoever.

Fair to say that I would like him to become champion again, not against our boys but if he were to fight the likes of Usyk then I'm behind him all the way.

Can't box to save his life but that right hand..He's good for boxing.

It's probably just a reaction to people saying he's an easy night and any good boxer beats him etc.

He's an absolute POS, maybe one of the worst in the division. That's clear.

But the Ortiz and Fury fights demonstrated very clearly that he doesn't go down easy and even the better/best boxers in the division are unlikely escape the bombs all night.

Those were critical demonstrations that his RH combats or overcomes 'slick boxing' pretty effectively because at HW people can't get out the way of it as he's quite fast and rangy obviously.

So when you realise that one of the most elusive boxers (Fury) can't escape that thing, no other SHW can either over 12 rounds. That means that everyone else will have to take Wilder out to win, maybe outside of Usyk. And so though that's possible, it's also very likely Wilder just nails them first.

Wilder and Fury are trying to make sure their fights remain important in history, but they are actually both second rate. One they fight decent fighters they will be exposed and the truth of their resumes will be revealed.

    "One they fight decent fighters"

    *Once

They need to start fighting men of the calibre of 24-5 McCall, 24-13-1 Puritty and 32-1 Ruiz rather than each other, 64-3 Wlad and 30-0 Ortiz. Maybe that Chisora guy too, he looked pretty handy against Usyk and Vitali. Joshua's 3rd best win Whyte would also expose those two frauds, no doubt.

Other Americans outsell Wilder without an issue. You can't blame boxing popularity for Wilders lack of ppv sales.
