Why the HELL does PW need to be begged to fight for the MW title?

"Although HBO announced the long discussed Sergio Martinez-Paul Williams rematch during Saturday night's "Boxing After Dark" telecast, the fight remains unsigned and no venue has been determined, Lou DiBella, Martinez's promoter, told ESPN.com. DiBella said he felt the fight would get done and he has Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., on hold for the Nov. 20 rematch, although it's not a lock as the host. "I've felt we have had a deal for a month, but for whatever reason the Williams side has not signed off yet," DiBella said. "I believe they will. More important, HBO believes they will, so they announced the fight. I was surprised when I saw it." Martinez, the middleweight champion, lost a tight decision to Williams in a December fight-of-the-year candidate. In his next fight, Martinez outpointed Kelly Pavlik to win the title." - From Dan Rafael @ espn

What's in these boxers' water bottles nowadays?!?!?

For **** sake, what is wrong with Williams, they are practically BEGGING this man to fight for the Lineal Middleweight title!

Shouldn't a guy jump for that ****, ECSPECIALLY AGAINST SOMEONE WHOM THEY ALREADY HAVE A WIN AGAINST?!

PW stop tip toeing around the contract and accept this match and $$. It's only for a lineal title shot I know, but just deal with it man.

    No ****.

Boxers fight for glory and $ (i.e. a better life), so what the **** is with everyone choosing to sit on the sideline and just be inactive.

What the **** is better for an active boxer than a chance at a lineal world title?

I have never put any stock in Williams or Donaire being feared and ducked and blah. It's bogus.

The man is ducked. He can still make welter (he barely came in over 150 against cintron) and thats where he wants to fight. You dont hear any welters ie. pac, floyd, cotto calling him out. They rather fight old shane or margarito. He had to jump 3 divisions at one point to get a fight. His only option is to rematch someone he already beat. That will do a lot for his career.

How many atg's won championships in a weight class they didn't necessarily like? hmmmm

I guess Williams doesn't care too much about being a champion. He'd rather just sit around and cry at welter, where HIS NAME ISN'T BIG ENOUGH FOR SOMEONE LIKE PAC OR MAY.

Boxing isn't fair, get over it do your best, or retire.

Martinez called out a 39 year old welterweight and a light middleweight prospect. He showed no interest in a Williams rematch until HBO informed diBella they would not buy any other fight. PDub's argument has been about money. It's true that Paul is not a big draw, but Martinez's fan base consists of a couple hundred Pavlik haters on ESB. Nobody else even knows who the **** he is. Lou diBella needs to step up and pay the man, and quit ****ing around.

It's been two years since he's fought at welterweight or had a world title. He has fought at 154 and 160, but never for a world title in the last five fights, all above welterweight. But he's calling out little Manny and Floyd. Okay. No title, isn't signing to get one when offered either. ...Why should anyone bother right now?

It's actually just sad to see you say anything about Martinez. It's like watching a young boy talking spitefully about his hot babysitter's boyfriend and how much of a jerk he is. It's sad but also kind of funny.

Everything thing I said is true. Martinez and diBella did all they could to avoid a Williams rematch, and that cannot be denied. Martinez is the new god of ESB, and can do no wrong. I understand that, but the fact is he called out a 39 year old welterweight, and they actually tried to sell that **** to HBO, and con the public into believing it was a good fight. 95% of ESB bought into it, and that showed how gullible, blind, and biased the posters around here really are.
