Why the hell does senile Merchant want Pacquiao to fight Canelo?

    I'm guessing he hates Oscar.

    Canelo is the Great Mexican Hope after Marquez.

    Besides, who wouldn't want to see Pac Vs. Matt Damon?

    Good question & I have the answer...
    (Because I watched De La Hoya Vs. Pacquiao earlier today)

    Bare with me.
    Merchant was/is the evil genius who first came up w/the idea of putting Pacquiao in the same ring w/a giant in De La Hoya. (On-Air)

    Basically he made an off the wall comment about something that at the time was so laughable & far fetched that in hindsight makes him look genius.

    He knows that Pac's reign at the top/Any fighter for that matter is relatively short.
    Larry is basically setting himself up to be Nostradamus like again by guessing a young lion could step up against an aging warrior. (Say in 3 yrs or so, If Manny is still fighting)
