I got nothing against Bryd and Brock really, it just pisses me off that both have a good chance of beating there oppenents and getting another crack at Wlad. Bryd got his ass beat soundly both times he fought Wlad and Brock got his ass beat pretty bad himself, in what I thought was pretty boring fight for the most part.

I am perdicting Brock to win the tournament itself, and as a boxing fan another Brock/Wlad fight is not something I would be looking foward to seeing, and I dont think Im the only one.

Why didnt they just make it Chambers/Povetkin, winner takes on Wlad? It doesnt make any sense for Brock and especially Bryd to even be in the running for another title shot, whats your opinion on this?

more fights to promote means more $

let's just hope neither brock nor byrd win... for their own sake

jeeez ... especially byrd. wlad could really hurt him this time.

Yeah I understand the money aspect, but the Povetkin/Bryd isnt even on TV. Bryd has never been a big draw and most Brock fights put me to sleep, I know the IBF couldve picked two better openents dont you think?

honestly they're still both top 15 guys...and better than some recent heavyweight title fights...even mandatories (Austin).

It just emphasises the mess that the HW division is in.

honest to god I have given up trying to figure out what the orgs are thinking when they make these fights. and you are right, the fight is not televised so not a big money maker. there are several guys that are better choices.... even several has-beens that would put up better fights

****.. i'd rather see fraudley and skelton in the mix and thats pretty sad

the choices of byrd and brock (byrd especially) are beyond comprehension

If either Brock or Byrd win the tournament Wlad should release the IBF belt and go after Peter-Maskaev winner, Chagaev, or Ibragimov.

If Wlad fights either Brock or Byrd again he himself will loose credibility.

Lets now hope that Povetkin and Chambers give their best.

I agree, why couldnt they put Virchis and Thompson in there instead. If by some chance Bryd wins, I will really lose hope for the heavywieght division and its future.

    You're right.

I can actually imagine Wlad holding a press conference and saying he will not fight Chris Byrd again because he could cause him great harm (and I'm not being sarcastic)

He could take a Brock rematch though although it's a foregone conclusion.

Povetkin should take this tourney and I guess thats what the org is hoping for.

I'm not sticking up for the ABC's by any means, but Byrd is a former titleholder and Brock has one loss, to the guy most consider the top heavy. They certainly are better choices than Audley or Skelton would be.

Now, I would have preferred to see Tony Thompson and Virchis in there myself.

Thats the guys I picked in the earlier posts, as replacements for Bryd and Brock. As a huge Heavywieght boxing fan I would be very disappointed if Bryd or Brock win this thing, niether fighter has the power or ability to beat Wlad.

Im really pulling for Povetkin to win, and I wouldnt mind if Chamber won either. The heavywieght division is lacking excitement, and Bryd and Brock are as boring as it gets.

I know what you mean. I saw your post about Thompson and Virchis after I posted. I'm interested in seeing what Povetkin has; I haven't seen him fight before. A win over Byrd would be a nice win for him. I used to have high hopes for Brock, but he doesn't seem to be special, does he?

Brock IMO is kinda of boring to watch, and he doesnt posses one great skill, everything about him is average or above average. Brock was taught most of what he knows from his father, who learned everything he knew from books and instructional videos.

Brock is was overhyped because he was undefeated going up against Wlad, his best win was against Mccline who hurt him during there fight. I sadly enough see Brock winning this tournament, I know he could beat Bryd at this point and would also give Chambers trouble as well. I just hope Povetkin can take him out, so we wont see another Wlad/Brock fight.:tired

Byrd and Brock were #1 and #2, why wouldn't they be in the mix? The IBF doesn't dock fighters in their rankings much for losing to the champion. On the bright side, it makes for some exciting rematches, but on the other hand, they don't dock a fighter enough when he loses convincingly.
